Hey all. I have a 2006 Ram 1500 4x4 with a 5.7 Hemi.
Last winter the 4 wheel drive started acting funny and would not come out of 4 Hi. Eventually, some times after a number of days it would act normal again.
This year I am having the same problem. I bought a new Transfer case motor, but it won't install as the splines won't line up. I can rotate the shaft on the side of the transfer case to get it lined up and bolted in but than my truck is in neutral, no matter what gear I choose. When I put it back in park it makes a grinding, spinning noise. I took the transfer case motor back of, put the transfer case back in gear and have been driving it without the transfer case motor installed as it is my only source of transportation.
The service 4wd light is on as well as the 4Low, no matter where I place the selector switch.
I also installed the harness to the transfer case motor to see if I could rotate it using the switch to line up the splines to install it but when I rotate the switch nothing happens with the motor. It appears as if I am not getting any power to the transfer case motor.
Winter driving conditions are fast approaching and I need to get this fixed relatively quickly so I can make the hour long drive back and forth to work in snowy conditions.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
