My brother/ employee wrecked my work truck, ran it completely dry of oil, seized it, then got locked up in prison and it has been sitting for about 1.5 years. finally started tearing into it last week. I just dropped the crank off this morning to have it turned. I had another shop check out my rods for reconditioning but they told me they didn't feel comfortable reconditioning them and said i should replace them. problem is, i'm trying to rebuild this as cheap as possibly while also doing it right because I just want to fix her up and sell her!! it seems to be nearly impossible to find any information/ videos on rebuilding this engine which baffles me considering its a popular engine. basically, i'm having trouble getting the damn springs off the cylinder because the springs have some sort of shroud around them which makes it complicated and i have not seen a single videos anywhere on how to compress them properly (at home). also, i cant seem to find a rebuild kit that is for the multi displacement system. anyone else have issues finding the right parts?
