I'm not crazy, I've been a retail salesman for 18 years, well I guess that might actually be proof of insanity.
You keep using that word demand.
You do know that new car dealers don't have to show you a vehicles invoice right? That's why there are online services (like Edmunds or Truecar) that will try to estimate the dealer cost and help you make an informed negotiating stance.
Some dealers will buy some goodwill with customers by showing them the "invoice" and even that isn't the price that a dealer has into a car or truck.
Demanding to be lied to in order to start negotiating is a false panacea that will just make it that much easier for a dealer to get in your pocket.

I think the v6 would be a complete dog in the quad cab version. If you are buying a truck with a loan I wouldn't settle because it's what you can afford once you realize you messed up and can't live with the truck your stuck unless you put a lot of cash on it. If you want cruise get it. I think you should atleast get a 4.7l. As far as price I don't know prices in your area but in Texas that's expensive in my opinion. I think for 13-15 I think you can get a 4.7l slt quad cab with 60k on the clock. In a 3rd gen you should be able to get the hemi. My buddy just bought a 08 reg cab sport with 70k on the clock for 12900.

Just FYI prices are a little higher in Louisiana because the lower population.

Texas does have the best prices for the most part.
I bought mine in Tennessee and had it shipped here.

Dude, i got a brother-in-law thats a used car salesman in NY, and i like him, but he's a sleazebag (sorry Jimmy). He'll rip off his own mom, given the chance. Also, I Know that new car salesmen don't "have" to show me their invoice, either. But if they wanna do business with then yes, they have to do it. I Know what they paid for the new vehicle. They pay invoice minus Holdback, Minus Incentives. I Know this, I wasn't born YESTERDAY. So when i buy a new car, i send the following email out to 50 new car dealers" I want xyz car, at invoice minus All Incentives, minus your Entire Holdback, minus $2000. Write me if interested otherwise dont bother". Youll be surprised how many respond. Then i see who goes the lowest below invoice minus Holdbacks. Then i order from them. And i dont leave Deposits when ordering.

Then, the real Fun starts. I ordered my Ram 2500 this February. I made sure I ordered a strangely optioned vehicle that nobody else would buy. So, after 4 Weeks, i started threatening the dealer that another dude gave me a better price, and that if he doesnt beat it, i wont buy the car that he ordered for me. The dealer whined, and moaned, but finally angrily agreed to sell the rig for a loss, so as not to be stuck with, in his words, a "non-marketable piece". So i basically got a $58G truck for $46G's.

I may be sneaky, I may be mean, but i got what i wanted. Thats how i deal with car salesmen (both new and used, haha).:flipthebird::homoswitch:

i have news for you, the number those dealers are showing you is not what they paid. its what they want you to think they paid. but hey, whatever helps you sleep at night.

dude, I Know all that. I got a brother in law in the business...read my previous posting:

What options did you choose for your 2500 that made it unmarketable? Auto Driver Ejection seat?
And that isn't being sneaky or mean it is bald faced lying. I won't lie to make a deal because I don't represent Christ that way to others but to each their own.

well that makes perfect logical sense. a dealership that operates selling vehicles for less then they paid for them. a car salesman will tell you what you want to hear to make a sale. clearly it worked.

Well, the dealer referred to the color, and the fact i ordered gas when 90% of his customers wanted diesel, plus i ordered silly things like dual alternators, plow prep, etc., that most of his customers wouldnt want to pay for...his words. I lie quite often. If it works, I do it. I dont Tell my wife about the girls i bang either. HAHAHA, works for me.

Well, i ordered the car first (without A Deposit). Agreed on $50.3. Then i waited long enough til the order cant be cancelled, then i threatened to go back on my deal, and buy from someone else. I demanded to pay $46, or he can keep the rig, and try to sell it. Mind u, hes in a small town in Montana where they probably sell 3 cars A Year, LOL...:roflsquared: He grumbled, complained, but agreed. Arm twisting, if ive ever seen it. HAHAHAHA. No other dealer came near that price.

I was perfectly willing to walk from the deal, and let him eat that truck, which he, himself, referred to, as a "non-marketable" piece. I purposely ordered it that way...Laramie, in bright blue 2-tone, with no-nav, but weird options like dual alternators, etc., that in his words, nobody wanted.:sleepy10:

Congrats, you can consider yourself on the same level as a car salesman, if not lower.

Not really trying to get into this argument but if you buy a vehicle especially a new one and think that they took a loss on it. You sir may have been born yesterday.

I would have to agree Texas like Houston where I am dealers will do battle to sell you their Ram. I got my black edition RC snickered at $29680 for $23700 OTD. If I waited another week or 2 I probably could have got it a little less. Also lone star and big horns sell cheap used here because of huge rebates on new ones. My 13 loaded 4x4 lone stars was $43k I paid $35 OTD with extended warranty and gap. When the new ones are cheap it lowers the price on used ones.

Dude, Im not Saying they took a loss.....the dealer Said that. And i find dealers slightly less trustworthy than lawyers or politicians, so I dont believe him. I dont think the dealer would sell at a loss. But this shows the HUGE Profit margin in play here, since i bought a truck that stickered $58 MSRP, for $46 G's. I Know he made SOME Profit, but obviously, my goal was to limit That Profit he earned, as much as possible. Being that there wasn't another dealership in the country who could beat that price (i contacted dealers from NY to CA and in between), I think i accomplished that.:naughty:

Cool....assuming they only sell em in TX. I suppose anyone can always order one from a TX dealer if they really wanted to, LOL. I just might do that One Day.
