Are there any particular concerns with a 2017 Ram 1500 I'm considering upgrading from my 2011 Ram 1500 and they are the same generation 4 just wondering if there are particular problems with this year?

My 17 has 75,000 trouble free miles. I did have to replace the brake pads (squealed from just about day 1) and shocks, but mechanically it has been great. And I'm not the best at maintenance. I change the oil when the truck says it's time, which is around 10k miles, instead of whatever short intervals other people like to use. Runs strong, and doesnt make any noises. The only issue is with Sirius signal randomly cutting out.

If you plan on tuning the PCMs are locked 2015 and up so you would need to buy an unlocked one. If not, then pull the trigger!!

My 2017 has been trouble free aside from a few minor recalls (tailgate, cruise control flash update), that's the only time it's been back to the dealership.

Had my 2017 for 3.5 years, only 34K miles and its been perfect. I don't even have Hemi tick. I agree with Lyle on the 2015's being some of the worst. My previous 2015 has roughly 80-85K miles on it now and has cam/lifters crap out, B/U camera go out twice, 3rd brake light leak, remote start quit(bad hood switch) and broken exhaust manifold bolts on one side.

Have had my 2017 for over 3 years, 34k on the clock, no problems. Love this truck.

Bought my 2017 brand new and love it. I have had zero problems with it. Only thing is mirror control is not backlit but that is pretty minor.

Got my 17 new, March 2017. Got 45K on it and love it. Just upgraded wheels and tires, last weekend.

what was wrong with the 14-15s?
See my post on the last page. I think the B/U camera going out is the most common problem on that year and add overhead console LED bulb burning out and cruise control button ON/OFF switch to my list from earlier on my previous 2015 RAM. That's literally more problems with one truck that I've had with every new vehicle that I've ever owned all put together in 37 years of driving. That's f'ing pathetic.

From what I've seen the cruise control button is oxidation on the switch connector. The 1st fix is to disconnect & reconnect the connector on the switch which involves taking the air bag off the steering wheel to get to it.

I still like my 2017, did not come with a backup camera but i installed it. only problems other than the recalls, factory tires did not like wet roads, and if you get a dead battery and autozone tests it don't trust that, still needed a battery. Also the Dealer keeps wanting to buy it back and get me to trade up.......

Of course the dealer wants to buy it back, you must have serious issues if you don't trade in & buy a new truck every 6 months..:D

It seems like they start sending those buyback offers before your 1st oil change

Local dealership when I was shopping for a single cab 4wd in Phoenix: "We don't order those because nobody wants them, nobody buys them, are you sure we can't put you in a 4 door?"

Same dealership every time I brought my single cab 4wd in for oil change/recalls while it was still under warranty: "tHeRe Is hIgH dEmAnd foR TrUckS LIKe yOuRs u ShoULd tRaDe iT iN"
