Hey guys I'm looking at the new 2011 power wagon. It's seems like a perfect truck. I love the lockers and the manual tc and everything. I only have one problem, HEMI!!!!! why would they put a HEMI in this hefty truck. It seems like a waste. I would love to have the power and also pull a rock crawler so I like to have thenpulling power there. So mynquestion is, how is the new HEMI in a towing aspect. I have the HEMI now and it struggles to pull my my 28 ft camper. So I really want a diesel but at the same time I love the fetures of the now power wagon. I will get it as long it can pull better than this HEMI. I know the new ones have more power to. So anyone that have a 2500 with a HEMI or even a 1500 that has towed with it any info would be great. Thanks

Those should have 4.56s from the factory like the older ones and the new hemis are 390 at the crank where yours was 345 at the crank. The gears alone should off set the difference but yes I think there should be a CTD option.

nice to see you around again Evan! I think a 28ft trailer would be better suited with a CTD, but.......I would rather have the PW. How often do you tow?

I believe they don't offer the CTD in the powerwagon because they cannot fit the winch in with the cummins motor and intercooler..

^ that's what I was thinking to man. And ya guys it's good to be back. I have been so busy with school and work it's hard to get time anymore. But now I got my iPad so it makes it nice! I'm pretty sure that I'm going to get the wagon so I'm excited and I made my mind up. I don't tow enough really to have to have a ctd and gas is cheaper for the HEMI so ya

I don't necessarily agree with the winch not fitting. I've seen some YouTube footage of a diesel power wagon made by the MOPAR people.
Cheers,

I can take a picture of the intercooler that sits where the winch would be mounted. Plenty of people have tried it but I have yet to see it actually accomplished
Not to mention the power wagon uses a specifically designed 12k lb winch shorter and the free spool lever is opposite I think) and is extremely hard to get one
4x4 magazine built a superduty with a 7.3 in it for their annual ultimate adventure trip and Had problems with it being to have/to much torque for certain obstacles

I have found a Intercooler relocation kit that allows for a hidden winch but its like $1200!!!!
And the winch is custom built by warn specificly for dodge. The whole controller box thing on the winch has dodge all over it lol

i test drove a 2011 Powerwagon before this deployment... The truck has alot of go for how hefty it is...

It had no problem getting to 80 on a onramp leaving the dealership..... If you have the time/money for the PW.. Get it... you wouldnt be disappointed other than if you tried to resell it... I have seen alot of guys trying to do this and get disappointed cause of trade in value and no1 wants to buy a used PW heavy and a V8 nowadays

Ever think there is a reason it's 3.5 years latter and you haven't heard anything.
Sure anything CAN be done with the right amount of money, especially when you have the resources of mopar.
And even that I would say they had to do a but of modifying to get it where it's at, at that point you might as wheel just get a whinch bumper and call it done

I'm just talking from my experience with wheeling cummins, but how many power wagons ever actually see the woods anyway...

Minus the manual transfer case, I think the built trucks would be better performing
