I just ordered new CV axles and the output shaft. I guess my truck will be 2 wheel drive until next payday so I can save up another 500 for the shaft kit.... WTF were those ********* at dodge thinking building the shaft that way.
Idk but it's a **** design all across the board. Call Ricks roods and make sure they have them in stock. When I called I got the last of the batch they had for the month. Judging by the way my experience went, im sure they would hold one for you if inventory was low. But if they sell out it's a couple weeks before a new batch comes in. They are 100% a genuine old school mom and pop shop that cares about customers. They've reached out to me after my purchase to make sure I was happy.

On a bright side it's only $500 and not a $1300 dif and the kit should abate most issues until you're well past the life of the truck.

I decided to play with my old shaft a bit this morning, I was able to adapt a few things I had laying around the shop to seat the bearing.

I had a super thick washer the same size as the bearing and used my puller to seat it.... lol... took zero effort. Ill throw the new shaft in the freezer overnight once I get it should make it a breeze.

Used a 1 1/4 socket to push out the old needle bearing, Wasn't able to MacGyver anything to push it back in tho. I did try a long piece of ready rod to pull it down and it dosent really stay square and get pulled in crooked. I guess Ill have to go to the fab shop in town to get it seated. They are 20$ a pop so not worth me screwing it up.

On mine I froze the shaft and preheated bearing to about 225-250* and it literally dropped right in place. But with that tool and a little freeze overnight it should work just the same. I looked at my needle bearings and decided I wasn't messing with them as they looked new. If this happens again I'll be replacing the differential with 3.92s So I'm not overly concerned.

If you do have an issue hit me up and I could always ship you my extra needle bearing in an emergency

I own a 2011 1500 QC 4x4. When regearing from 3.55 gears to 4.10s, will this be kit needed?
Depends on the condition of your passenger side shaft and it's splines. Without seeing it in person it's hard to say, but it's a safe bet to say most likely. Simply for the fact that you'll have it apart already I would suggest it so you don't need to do it again later. Pulling the front dif isn't hard, but it's not fun either.

Just asking cause the kit is for 2012 and up. Mine is a 2011. I lifted my own truck so dropping the diff wasnt a problem. Just taking all the other parts to do so will be the PITA. Lol!

Hold on......i think the front differential might be different. In which case this kit won't work. I thought 2010 and down had the old style dif. Is your passenger side stub shaft bolt it?

Idk? I will check in a couple hours when the sun comes up. How would that look like?
I never got a notification you responded. I apologize. Take a quick picture of the front differential if you can where the passenger side cv axle attaches.

Been eyeing those myself, they certainly look like an upgrade over the stock ones...

Some people dont like them, but for 99$ each Canadian I could replace them 3x and it's still cheaper then OEMs... lol. With hunting season around the corner i'll be doing a fare share of offroading so will see if they can take a bit of abuse.

I almost want to take one apart to see if the CV guts are the same since im keeping my old axles for spare parts.

Why don't people like them? Vibrations?

I have Cardone front calipers and they seem to be pretty good quality...

Only thing to keep an eye on is my reman cvs got close to the knuckle with boot clearance. Otherwise I have zero issues. When I had to pull my passenger side, it was already seized to the garbage shaft from heat and ended up blowing apart. Internally, it looks identical to mopar half shaft. I was a big grease ball so I don't have any pictures. Aside from possible material quality differences in the actual cv joint construction I wouldn't even worry about running these. Especially at $99. I can't for the life of me imagine these not lasting like oem, especially with the splines protected with this kit.

My drivers side has no boot on the splines and my passenger does since I had done the drivers side prior to getting the kit. Winter is closing in so we'll see how one side compares to the other.

Im a freaking genius. I made my own CVT spring compression tool last summer as im too cheap to buy one since they are 100$ and scrap metal is free..lol...

Well guess what, Worked wonders to press in the needle bearing... lol...

Just pulled mine out today. Heres what it looks like. I know these Rams have a bit of play in the shaft joints but this seems excessive. Will change out the 2 Axles and The Intermediate shaft. I think im still good for a few years on the other side for now. Maybee someone with more experience with these can let me know if those splines still look good ? Or do I need to drop 500$ and rebuilt it now ?

Just out of curiosity but do we have to drop the whole front diff to take the stub out of the housing ?

Nope. Drop whatever skids you have, pull the 4wd actuator, 4 bolts hold the stub shaft housing, or "snout" I've referred to it as, to the dif and the 2 passenger side dif to frame mounts.
