Went to change my oil yesterday and noticed a crazy amount of flaking off rust on the oil pan. There's no oil spots on the ground but the rust on the pan was oil soaked leading me to suspect seepage. I don't really want to do this job on my own in my driveway since I know the motor has to be jacked up and stuff. Any idea on what the replacement cost would be??? Anyone else experience this? Truck only has 85k miles

The pans and gasket sets go from $50.00 and up. U just gotta do and/or take to a good local garage with a decent mechanic. Have them do for U... Well, remember oil/filter change also while doing pan, LOL...

I haven't pulled a pan/bottom of motor since putting in TRW mains in an old 327, so I do not know what is involved on a 2012 Ram.

ADDED: U could drop the pan, just buy a gasket, and wire brush/clean/paint re install. But I personally would just buy a New pan and replace, kinda insures proper fit, no seepage in case old pan is damaged, or rusted through.

Doing the pan is not to hard I had to do mine took me few hours you do not have to jack up the motor. The biggest pain in the ass is 3 bolts for the front axle where it bolts to the frame then you jack up the front of the truck so axle drops down then you have enough clearance to pull pan there is a few vids for it on YouTube if you look.

Good time to upgrade your pan.

I was wondering about those front pan bolts and how you get at them just today..

While trying to contain the spillage from removing the oil filter on my 2019 Ram 1500 classic w/ hemi during an oil change.
