Not sure if in the right section, sorry if it is not.
I have a '13 1500 Big Horn with dealer installed "factory" auto-start (integrated into the fob) that is having some issues... and they seem to be getting worse.
The first item that I can remember happening is after I installed the update via USB stick that Dodge sent in the mail to prevent the "evil hackers" from taking over my truck. A week or so later my gauge cluster, while driving, turned off and then reset as if the truck was just started (gauges swept, ram logo appeared, etc). Since then it has happened a total of 3 times, was going to get it looked at next time I go for service.
But last Thursday morning I auto-started my truck as normal before leaving for work and went to drag the trash cans to the curb. As I was walking past my truck the marker lights started blinking as if someone was hitting the lock button and I could hear the doors re-locking (although they were already locked). It only happened twice so naturally I thought my keys were probably sitting strange in my pocket.
Well, last night I went out to smoke cigars with the boys and after I pulled up to my friends house I get out and hit the lock button on my fob. As I'm walking away I see/hear the truck re-locking. I looked at my fob, still in my hand to make sure the button wasn't stuck. It was not, and the truck kept trying to re-lock at random intervals. Thinking maybe it's something with the signal from the fob I unlocked the doors, started the truck and let it run for a minute before shutting it off. I then locked the doors via the drivers side door button and closed the door. After standing there like a fool for 5 minutes or so the truck sat quietly so I went into my friends house. I used the same method to lock the truck last night before going to bed and it was not having the issue.
This morning when I got to work I forgot and used the fob to lock the truck and it started again. I did the same method as last night, turning the truck on and then off, locking with the door button and all is well again.
My question after that probably too long novel of a post is...
I have another FOB at home and didn't think about it until now but I will go through the normal paces when I get home and test it out.
Thanks for any input.
[tl:dr]
- After software update gage cluster resets while driving
- Truck keeps trying to lock itself at random intervals when locked with fob, does not seem to happen when locked with door button

- anyone else experiencing electrical demons since the software upgrade?
- Could it be the dodge auto-start unit?
- Could it be the FOB itself?
