Truck sat for the day in the cold, minus 18c plus wind. End of day remote start. 5 minutes later, walk out and find it not running. Remote start disabled. Start engine to reset. Check engine light on, a little worried. If I try a remote start, it fires up for about 15 seconds then disables itself.

I went and fuelled up to make sure it wasn't related to the fuel cap. Same thing. All temps fine, idles fine, runs fine. Any ideas?

The OEM remote won't let the truck run for a number of reasons gas light on, CEL, door or hood open. So that part is normal but having the CEL is not. Let us know what it ends up being.

At those temps, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a voltage reference error because the battery was frozen... lol

Yeah, who knows. It was facing the wind. Damn technology can ruin anything. We'll see what they say tomorrow I guess.

It's gotta be something minor since it seems to idle, run and drive fine. Coolant, oil and trans temps are where they should be. Had it plugged in all day too. It did go from +3 to -30 overnight though.

I hope you find out it's nothing serious... and please, keep that weather up there.
If I have to wake up to one more 15*F morning, I may move to Costa Rica.

I had my CEL come on in the cold, ended up being a bad o2 sensor at 19000 miles and somehow my PCM had to replaced as well. I had two codes pop but can't think of them at the moment. Dealer fixed o2 and a 2 days later PCM when it came in.

Same thing as well a safety so the truck isn't running with a possible problem, and my truck ran and drove just fine with a bad o2 and PCM.

I have been waking up to this crap for 37 years. If I could find a good paying IT job down south, my house would be packed before the ink was dry on the contract.

my CEL gets triggered when ambient temp hits -40c, then the remote obviously doesn't work because of the light, dealer said its normal on 13s that cel goes off in -40 which I wish they would find a fix for, so if your having issues in anything warmer then that you have another issue of some sort

Chatted with the dealer. There is a flash for this issue- see it a lot. It mainly happens when it is cold (he said the definition of cold varies. Anything from -20 and lower is when they are seeing it) and mainly when the vehicles are plugged in. It is a misfire code. Quick flash, problem fixed. I cleared the code for now so remote start would work, but I am going to plug it in to see if it happens again now.

Let us know if the problem comes back I'm heading back to Canada this year from California and would like to know if I can expect problems with the remote start system, like you and many others, I didn't pay extra for it to not have it work in the cold.

My 13 just did this today..... started it up, drove off and i noticed i had no pickup.
Looked at EVIC and it was in 4th gear and i couldn't change that. Check Engine Light was on.

Took it to the Dealer:

Tech said sometimes, due to the cold we are having, the batt voltage dips below 10 on start-up cranking and with that being the threshold, throws a code and puts it into safe mode or something like that. When it throws a CEL, the auto start and MDS is disabled.

Subsequent starts put the tranny back into normal mode.
Tech flashed computer with latest update for me - Rapid Response #13-071 which is radio update so I'm not sure what this will do.
