My 8.4 Vp3 CA type CMC(RA3) uconnect made by Haramn Automotive (sold to samsung) completely failed, performed all soft and hard resets. There is 12 volts at the connector to the unit. Volume and browse buttons do not do anything no sound just nothing. It was working, shut the truck off and started 10mins later and it was dead.

Pulled the unit out and the capacitors look good no burns or brown coloring on the board. The screen looks fine no liquid etc..

Both the new units and used units are well over $1k CAD just cannot justify it.

Cannot find any repair places or board replacements.

It would be great if there is place that will repair the unit or if I can buy some used boards.

Wiring schematics/wiring diagrams would be helpful to troubleshoot with my meter

Thanks

Please confirm this post has been sent out. If so does anyone have nay information on troubleshooting this uconnect? It appears that it could be also a Canbus issue ..everything appears to be working fine in the truck though. Is there anything I can try? I have a meter that I can check. Thanks again

Good luck my friend... They are expensive to replace and difficult to repair. Most either find used ones from a salvage yard, buy new and eat the cost, or find one of the few aftermarket replacement options. After replacing the screen in mine from delamination and then a year later having it start to freeze up and blue screen, I swapped in an aftermarket. I couldn't justify the cost of an OEM replacement either.

What part of Canada are you in,i know on my local market place here in Alberta there's a pile of trucks being parted out, maybe check your local market place, another place to check is auto wreckers,SGI salvage in Saskatchewan usually has a good collection of trucks they're parting out

I had issues with my 2013 radio as well. This was about 3-4 years ago. The dealer wanted around $1,500 to replace it. I ended sending it to Infotainment, (previous) post and they repaired it for a fraction of what the dealer wanted. I don't remember what the issue was, but I have no complaints of their work.

New poster here.. I have pretty much the exact same problem with my UConnect 8.4 screen as Zedde! I have a 2013 Ram 1500 Outdoorsman. 8.4 Vp3 CA Harman.

It was weird.. Before the screen completely went blank, it would go off and on anytime I would open the centre console. Not always though. Sometimes it would do it randomly. I thought maybe there was a wiring issue. I have completely gutted the center console looking for a wiring issue tracing wires with my DMM. None to be found (Attached Wiring Diagram here). There is power at the connector pins to the head unit (~14Vdc). I have torn apart the head unit to check for any damaged components. Again, none to be found. Checked all fuses including the hidden one by the negative terminal. All good. After carefully putting it back together, the same blank screen persists. Also, the hot and cold controls work (although I can't tell the actual level), AC works, etc. It's pretty annoying not being able to change my vent directions (Seems stuck on floor or I can change it to defrost windshield with the button.)

I am also getting these two codes from my OBD2 reader (BlueDriver):
- B1A76 Remote Start Antenna Circuit: Circuit Open, (I don't fully understand this one since the remote start works just fine.)
- B22A9 ECU Internal Performance: No Sub Type Information

So now I am faced with several options and I'm not sure which to try first:
1. Try replacing just the screen and hope and pray that fixes it.
2. Replace the entire head unit. (I've heard of problems having to reprogram?)
3. Maybe there is a battery or wiring issue? (Voltage while running: ~14Vdc, while truck is off = ~12.4Vdc) While troubleshooting, my battery did seem to drain fairly quickly and I had to trickle charge it back to normal. Seems to be fine now.)
4. RF Hub is screwed and will need to be replaced? (I took the back seat out and inspected it. Everything looked good there. Also heard of problems reprogramming the RFH.)

Finding a replaceable head unit can be some what costly (price range is about 400-2500cad depending on the route you take it seems. Used vs Infotainment.) especially if that isn't the actual problem. I would just be throwing away money having buying it used. I am struggling on which step I should take next. Taking it to the dealership here in town is a no-go as it is out of warranty plus they are notoriously difficult to deal with. I don't have the "more proper" diagnostic tools nor do I really want to invest in them either if I don't have to.

I am hoping someone here might know a good next step! Thanks.

Consider replacing it with an Android radio. Not terribly difficult to accomplish. They’re cheap and work well. Plus you get some features with them that the OEM radios don’t have, like Apple CarPlay.

I'm definitely considering it! I've been reading up on them and they sound like a good cheap fix. Not sure whether I should go for the Junsun unit or phoenix. Hoping that will fix the issue and I can have my radio and climate controls back!
