bought a brand new 2013 ram big horn back in september, have 3,100 mies on it. last weekend was driving the truck and noticed it was in 4th gear and would not come out. Stopped and shut truck off was able to get it back in "Drive" but engine light came on. drove a few miles and went back in 4th. Took to dealer they replaced the transmission solenoid and said the one they had was also defective. well after a few days of calling back and forth they are now replacing a module and the whole engine wiring harness. they said water got it connect and corroded it. Just putting this out there in case anyone else encounters this problem.

Will let you all the what the turnout is when i get the truck back.

Sorry about your luck man... I worked on a brand new 2013 ram fully loaded the works everything for this company we did 40 units of the same exact trucks. Seriously picked up from dealer drove to shop which was about 28 miles an converted to run on CNG. Before I could even drive the truck off the lift with 28 miles on it with one of them the tranny had crapped out. Couldn't even drive off lift had towed to dealer they ended up replacing the tranny completely. I forget what actually physically went wrong but regardless it was :bs:

i have always been a chevy guy but really liked the new rams, i test drove a 2014 silverado that i was going to buy, well on the test drive one of the transmission cooler lines came off and blew fluid all over the road and the dealer had to come pick me up, that changed my mind and bought the ram. Must be just my luck. Dont think that i should be having a major problem like this with a truck with 3100 miles on it. Hopefully after this is fixed i wont have any more problems with the truck because i really do like it.

All it takes is some dude or robot at the factory placing a piece wrong. Hope it settles out quick and good! One reason I like buying used after a few years, this stuff is sorted out...

I also bought my truck last Sept, no issues yet with the 8 speed tranny 7500 miles later.

I have a '14 with same setup…6-speed, 3.55. No mechanical probs so far. Just the plastic front express facia being to fragile. Cracked it on some snow and had to have it replaced and painted. Now I'm afraid to nose the truck up to anything. LOL

I hope they sort your problem out for you. Seems weird to have to change the wiring harness because water got in it. If water got that high, you may have other things affected too. Did you drive it thru any deep water?

they dont no why water got into the module, there replacing wiring instead of cutting the harness and replacing the pig tail. Truck has never been driven thru high water and has only been in the rain and snow a hand full of times, and thru the car wash a few times. I only drive the truck on weekends due to company truck. If i had a guess is that the rubber at the end of the plug did not have a good seal.

finally got my truck back on monday night. So some how my truck got water in trough the c1 connector on the pcm. The dealer said they are not sure how. The replaced the solenoid pack for the transmission twice and then found that the pcm and connector was faulty. Replaced the whole engine harness. Truck seems to be good now put about 70 miles on it with no problems. I hope this is the last issue i have with the truck.

Owned a brand new 2003 RAM and the transmission went out at 1900 miles. I couldn't drive it over 15mph, I forgot what they had changed if not whole transmission.

Hi ctaylor90,

Things happen. It sounds to me like the dealer was at least trying to make it good. A harness is a pain to change out and that they dug deep enough to find it shows at least some initiative on their part. This is a lot better than what I got on my 07 GMC Canyon which I bought new. Three issues, three service bulletins, one for each of the issues I was having and four could not duplicates from their crap service. Stuff happens it's what occurs after it happens that makes the difference. Glad they are trying to make it right for you, and good luck with the truck.

Sounds like the screwed your truck up from the factory, but you have a good dealer service department. Enjoy your truck now!
