2014 ram 1500 engine light

Hello, I just purchased my first dodge.. a Ram 1500 Sport. I started the truck yesterday morning.. its -35 and the engine light came on but did not get any messages. I disconnected the battery and it went away. Today, same thing I started it and the engine light came on. My dealership is 500Km away.. gross i know. just wondering if anyone else has had this issue?

is it still cold today? cold weather (-39C) made my light go on also, I shut off next day when temps warmed up

Yeah it's -31 right now it was -40 this morning. I'm gonna use a code reader tomorrow and see what it says.

yeah. the local auto store sold 287 batteries in one day last week. My temp gauge outside reading has been stuck at -40 for days.. I don't think it reads anything colder than that. lol even tho there has been days where its -30 it still reads -40 outside..

It was 51*F in KY today...and that was chilly! But, I did get both trucks washed....

14*F...yeah, you can keep that! Brr!

Did it come on instantly after start or take a few mins? If it was instant it could just be a misfire from a lean start. If it took a few minutes it could be a cat converter or engine not reaching temp in time.

When I woke up and used the remote start the truck would turn on and then after 4sec turn off. I go and manually start it the engine light comes on right away. After disconnecting the battery it goes away for the rest of the day but that's 2 mornings in a row. Thanks for responding!

called the dealer to mention my check engine light as my truck is going in next week, he said their service truck which is a 13 also trips the cel when ambient temp is -40, a guy a work with has identical truck to mine and his cel doesn't light up so ill make sure they do something about it not just tell me its cause its cold, and also remote start wont keep truck running if cel is on, -56C with the wind this morning when I left work, was a long slow ride felt like I was running on square tires for about 10 minutes lol, even with block heater plugged it sounded pretty pissed off to be turning over

Not only did check engine light come on for me also put me stuck in 4th gear not sure if that's cold related but is -25 here, unplugged battery and now is gone and working normal again. anyone have this issue? looking online seems to be a widespread number of reasons for that to happen.

I don't get stuck in gear but my gears hold a lot longer before shifting

Yeah my 2014 does the same thing when it's really cold. -40... The dealer told me just to unplug the battery said its nothing major. Either I way when I go for a service I would expect to get this fixed. I have 500km on it

Damn, same (similar?) Issue here. Remote start disabled, CEL on. It went from +3 to -30 here overnight. Might have something to do with it. I don't think I will disconnect the battery. I want them to pull the code first.

Has there been any fix found BESIDES disconnecting the battery? Disconnecting the battery will dump all of my u-connect settings, won't it?
