New member here so hello everyone.

Details on the truck as 2016 Ram 1500 Sport, 48,000km.

So my problem is I drove to work in the morning, and home after, no problems whatsoever. Start my truck to head to the grocery store later in the afternoon and the first attempt starting my truck it hesitated and shut off. Second attempt my truck started fine but this time my engine light and traction control light came on.

After I begin driving my engine light begins to flash, instantly turn around and shut down truck(drove maybe half a kilometer). Truck did not shake while driving, no smell of gas around exterior of truck, very slight loss of power.

I have an appointment booked with my local dodge dealer tomorrow morning. I live 2.9km away from dodge, would it be safe with my current conditions to drive the short distance down the road to dodge?

I was told if the light is on, it's ok to drive to the dealership. If the light is on and flashing, that is something more serious and shouldn't be driven.

My truck still has full bumper to bumper/powertrain warranty and I explained my situation to the service manager over the phone, he said it should be ok making it the short trip. but reading and hearing otherwise now online.

If you have the full bumper to bumper you should have there free tow service included as well.

If you need additional assistance with this, MoparBrent, send us a direct message. We'd be happy to get this over to a Case Specialist for further handling.

Thanks for the replies guys. Here is an update. Was going to call the roadside assistance tow truck to come bring it to dodge but figured I'd start it up for fun before I gave them a call.

Truck started up fine, traction control light wasn't stuck on anymore and the engine light was no longer flashing, just on solid so decided to drive it the 2km to dodge for my 8:30am appointment.

turns out it was just a software update for my transmission and some other small update. Seems a little odd that a software update would cause a blinking engine light and loss of power initially

I miss it when everything was manual in a car and didnt have to have a computer to run it, you turn on a switch for a/c, adjusting cilmate control with cables, gas pedal/trasmission controlled by cable etc.. too much electrical crap to go wrong in modern cars..
