Hello, first poster here. I have a 2016 ram 1500 Ecodiesel. I am not a mechanic, but i am capable of doing simple maintenance and repairs via youtube and reading. I recently had the truck repaired at a shop that involved a heavy oil leak in the crankcase. A week after the vehicle was returned i noticed that it was squeaking when i drive. Dont ask me why, but i figured the wheels were dirty or something... till i checked under the wheel well and discovered that the top of my front passenger side strut mount with three bolts and a center "bolt" were all completely loose. Like, moveable with my fingers. I tightened down the three around the center one but couldnt tighten that down at all. There is a picture here.
My question; Do i need to replace the entire strut, or is it possible they forgot to tighten it down when they did the engine work? from what i was told it was a pretty extensive repair, and i think they had to take the engine apart to get to it. Could i take this to a shop and have them tighten it down? The one mechanic i decided to take it to says i need to replace the strut and in which case i need to replace both front even though the driver side strut looks perfectly fine?
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. I looked this up and it seems like a job that would require a compressor, something i definitely dont have or have the money forIMG_0886.jpg

What struts do you have on your truck? OEM or aftermarket?

That center bolt being loose I usually only see on struts that are assembled incorrectly.

I bet they forgot to tighten the outer 3 nuts.
