Naw... now these were the real deal! :grd: I hope to have one of these before I die.
I remember a good ol' boy farmer used to enter his every year in the county fair truck pull. He never got less than 3rd. place in the stock division using the old military style tires. All those other guys with their mid 80's jacked up 4X4 V8's with roll bars would laugh at his beater til it drug the sled down the track! :evillol:
Any of you know... didn't most of the mid 40's - 50's have flat head 4cyl.?

someone in the Pacific nw, had a sort-of duplicate restored about 10 years ago. It had a stock chrome bumper, I think. The "PowerWagon" graphic on the box sides was not a decal, it was painted on and done beautifully. Really, just a show-stopper paint job all around.

They used a flat six until the mid or late 60s. I don't remember the exact displacement. I think it was close to around 250cid. Maybe a little more or a little less

I just test drove a 2016 PW. I was not impressed at all. It felt under powered. I was seriously thinking about trading in me 2015 1500 BH but immediately changed my mind. I have a few comments I want to make.
1) Why dont they have a 1500 with disco sways, lockers, and a winch?
2) how many people really need a 2500 with that capability? a 1500 in that setup seems more likely.
3) The PW is way over priced. You can build your own PW for much cheaper.

I think they use the 2500 because it has a strong straight front axle, then they use softer springs so its load capacity and towing capabilities are less as well.

PW need 4:56 gears in them IMO.

That orange PW brought a smile to my face. A buddy of mine had a '74(?) PW in high school. We raised a little heck in that thing!

They used to have that when they only offered the 5.7L. That's a bit over kill for the 33's they come with, but if they included 35's 4.56 would be nice. It would certainly be needed if you wanted to stuff 37's in there. :favorites13:

Yeah I read that, but besides the shocks and hill descent control, my truck already has all the things that comes with the off road package like skid plate protection, a limited slip diff, and off road tires(Nitto Trail Grapplers). I don't think I would use the hill descent control and aftermarket shocks like the Bilsteins can be had for a few hundred bucks. It would have been nice if they would have put a font limited slip diff on the off road package. I am currently thinking about doing that.

Agreed. About the video, I didn't see anything the the PW did that my 2500 Laramie MC couldn't do. Would seem to be better to show an ad with the PW that is more unique to it capabilities than what was in the vid.

+1, wish that was an option for the non-PW trucks.

If I read it correctly, the PW now has the same 11.8" rear end as the CTD truck? If that's so, seems it would be a no-brainer to offer THAT axle across the HD lineup. Love the helical gear limited slip and locker combo, best of both worlds!

I remember a few years back they made a commercial where the power wagon was climbing up a steep mountain side. Doing cool ****, not just pulling a cut log...

I dunno, I still like my '15 PW. New one looks nice too, but nothing to suggest it's significantly more capable in any way. Interior looks nicer though.

Lots of hate for this truck in the comments section on C&D. I don't really understand why. Yeah, the graphics are overdone, but I got mine with the graphics delete. Unless you knew what to look for, no one would even know it's a PW.

Haters gotta hate I guess...
