Well here we go. I own a 2018 Ram Rebel. The vehicle has 37000 miles on it. I also have the Mopar VPP MAXIMUM CARE protection plan. Two days ago, I was driving the vehicle . I noticed that the Uconnect system was asking me if I wanted to update the clock settings. I thought this was kind of weird. I clicked " NO". The message continuously kept popping up on the screen and the clock was flashing blue as if I was pushing it . From reading other threads this appears to be whats called "ghosting". I also noticed that around the top end of the screen it appears the 2 screens are delaminating . I have contacted the dealership without much help. I contacted the extended warranty company again without much help. I noticed if I put a small piece of cardboard between the top edge of the screen and the screen housing it stops flashing the message and appears to work fine. This would make sense if the screens are in fact comping apart m the cardboard is keeping the screens together. According to the dealership this radio needs to be replaced, with a minimum price tag of $ 850 plus labor, but they are on backorder. According to threads I have seen some people have replaced the screen with an aftermarket screen from CHIIIINNNAAA. what screen ? where to buy? price? What have people with similar problems done ? I am asking for any help with options. @RamCares

Post a picture of it if you can ...but what I did was grabbed some tint film that I use for tail lights and headlights and I cut it to size and put it over the actual screen ... that solved every problem plus it looks better than what it used to ...

The liquid adhesive (LoCa) between the screen and digitizer wasn't cured correctly and it's leaking out the bottom. As this happens, bubbles form between them and create ghost touches.
It's a known defect not officially acknowledged by FCA/Stellantis and @RamCares would need to get involved to see about replacing it under warranty if possible. @SitKneelBend may be able to give u some additional options... But yeah, the radio would need to be sent off to NavRepair or United Radio to get a new screen at $650-$750.

If you work with @RamCares the first step is to have the dealership diagnose and quote the repair (they will need a copy) . Then they can connect you with uconnect. Based on your warranty it may be covered. I had mine replaced free of charge on my 2018 but I was at 30,000 miles. Some others haven't been so lucky but I'd say it's worth checking just to save you money.

Some good news, new screens can be purchased directly from Chinese suppliers for $450 now so the prices are coming back down.

There is a known Star case on this that came out in May. Here is what @RamCares stated...

There was a recent STAR case released in regard to this concern. I kindly recommend reaching out to your dealer to have them properly inspect your Uconnect touchscreen and appropriately review the terms of this STAR case. Your dealer may be willing to work with you on this once they perform a proper diagnosis and consider all of the necessary information.

Do you know the Star Case number? Makes it a lot easier to get the powers that be on the same page for folks.

Unfortunately no. They never gave me that detail or I certainly would post it. Especially since most dealerships don't want to bother looking it up.

I literally just went through this…..in November as I headed on a road trip for a week, I noticed the upper left corner of my 8.4 connect with nav screen doing the same thing - delaminating, And I had experienced occasionally weird unconnect-going-stupid moments, where it simply shut down, or acted flaky, then upon next startup was fine…I immediately called in a case to Ram Cares, while driving on my road trip, as my 2018 Sport was just at 35,500 miles, and in my head i processed that I was still covered under the 3 yr / 36k mile bumper to bumper warranty. I knew i would be over 36k miles by the time i got home, so i wanted to get the case And issue documented with Ram, hoping to avoid a battle, knowing i would also need to bring the vehicle into my local dealership once i got home, for a complete diagnosis….

…..I was beyond the 3 year 36k mile due to in service date - I am the second owner, purchased from a small dealership locally…..thank goodness for The extended warranty that i purchased through my credit union when i purchased my truck - screen & radio replacement = covered completely with No deductible - woohoo!

My dealership was fantastic - they took all my information and 3rd party warranty details, and they got everything pre-approved, and parts ordered - they expected 3-4 weeks for the Uconnect stuff - surprise! Parts arrived in less than 2 weeks - all fixed now.

So, if you are under warranty, factory or Max Care or 3rd party, you “should” be covered for replacement. If not, i guess you will have to pursue one of the mentioned repairs on your own.

Best of Luck - here’s hoping warranty covers you!

Just took my truck in yesterday for Manifold bolts 2018 1500 5.7L with 52,500 miles. Extended Powertrain Warranty. I also have delamination of my screen. Dealer said that the vehicle is out of warranty and only has Powertrain warranty. They will not cover the radio and it is $1125 to replace. Ive been driving for 15 years, owned multiple vehicles, nothing as nice or as expensive as my truck. I have never had a radio do this. I emailed ramcares on this site and they told me there are no active recalls on this issue. I'm not happy.

You can send the radio off to United Radio yourself for repair... About $650-$700

I've got a ticket with ram cares at the moment. Contacted them yesterday, waiting on a call back from a specialist. We will see what happens, I'm not going down without putting up a bit of a fight. If they say no I will either send it in for repair, replace the screen myself, or upgrade to a different radio.

Update. RamCares told me they wont cover it as the 3YR36K is expired. Quite disappointed. Probably going to deal with it for the time being while I try to figure out what replacement screen I need. I'm not paying $1200 for the same thing for this to happen again in 3 years.

I have 2018 2500 with 30k miles. Screen delaminated, dealer and Ram wouldn’t warranty so I performed repair. Removed radio disassembled used bottle of alcohol and rags to clean gluey substance off of led screen. Reinstalled $40 touchscreen I got on eBay. Screen looks better than factory screen did. Takes about 2hrs, rubber gloves, alcohol and a lot of rags. Terrible that Ram @RamCares doesn’t warranty such an obvious defect. My stealer quoted me 1300 for a new radio.
