2020 1500 Hemi Tick Please Help!

My 2020 1500 5.7 hemi is ticking and I can't figure out what it is. The truck has 59,500 miles on it and less than 450 idle hours. There is a loud ticking noise during idle, cold and warm, and it also matches the RPMs. I took it into my local ram dealership and they replaced both exhaust manifolds as they said they were cracked. It still ticked. I then drove it around for maybe another 200 miles and took it back in and asked them to focus on the cam and lifters. They came back to me and said that one of the lifters had failed and there was damage to the camshaft lobe. They replaced the camshaft and 4 of the lifters. It still ticks! I'm thinking about replacing the spark plugs but I doubt that's the issue. Does anyone have any suggestions?

You could try redline 5-30 oil. Check out the synthetic oil thread.

Try and upload a video of the noise odd they would only do 4 lifters tho.

There was either a mis fire code or their wasn't. Since they did bolts first I'm guessing you didn't have mis fire? Did you see the cam? Did they make you pay? It is a fools errand to replace lifters that tick thinking that will fix it, there are way too many examples of this not working. If you had to pay why not make them fix it? Even small claims if they wont. We need a lot more info here. If it is ticking after a cam job the usual suspects is push rods bent from install, it's a thing. No lubrication strategy will help if your rods are bent.

There was not a misfire code and no, I did not pay. It has been ticking since I got the truck back in February - before and after the camshaft and lifters were replaced.

That's cool, did you bring it back? A common thing is push rods get bent on installs no matter who does it. I would have them take a look? Glad you didnt pay.

Have you looked into the broken exhaust manifold bolt issue? I had all of mine, both sides replaced, had a total of 4 or 5 broken bolts, some were a complete ***** to get removed, could have bought a new head for what the idiot charged me !

I second this! My 2013 1500 Longhorn had a tick and it was only manifold bolts. The tick from them can sound like all kinds of internal problems. Steel bolt in aluminum head. Much easier that you would think.

I have been using Redline oil forever and don't idle when possible. 125,000 miles and no tick yet.

Need a sound video, them only replacing 4 lifters? be willing to bet there are more lifters crying out.

There are heavy-duty aftermarket manifolds available which can solve the "Hemi tick" problem.
