Just curious if anyone has put 295’s on their 2019+ 2500. If so, how much did your MPG drop? I’m wondering if the 8 speed will lessen the fuel economy drop going from 275/70/18 to 295/70/18.

I’m specifically looking at Mastercraft CXT’s which are about 34.6” and 61 lbs.

I would bet on a MPG hit going from the Transforce HT to a more aggressive tire, let alone one that’s 3% taller and 7% wider.

Yeah, the drop is inevitable. I just wonder if it will be less significant than the previous gen with the six speeds. Trying to justify! Lol

3 mpg is the difference I saw with a 4 taller wheel. Definitely can’t use regular gas. Need mid grade at the very least or MDS when engaged will be rough.
I have been 91 octane since I bought my truck so I would not have that issue. And so far I can see 16 mpg under normal driving conditions.

Are you saying 4” taller wheel? 37’s? If so, 3 mpg loss for that much of a size difference actually doesn’t seem terrible.

A little mis-leading. The stock tires that are on my truck are 33 but measure out to 31.4” Im speaking of 35”s Not terrible but this is not a blanket statement. Tires at that size very in weight 20lbs-45lbs more then stock when your at the 35-37” range. Like Mickey Thompson has some great super swampers, but you would have to regear to run them. The tires your looking at are light weight though.

Ah, I see what you are saying now. I didn’t realize the stock PW tires measured to be 31.4.

Yeah I did not neither till I had owned it for 2 months. Plus only a D rated tire too. It good for Jeeps.

Put ridge grappler 295/60/R20's on mine. Lost about .5 - 1 mpg ish.

The stock Ram wheel won't take much more width. I wanted 305's or 315's.

2017 w/ 6 speed transmission though.
