Thanks for the UPDATE . I completely forgot about it lol Thanks for the part # I book Marked it in case anyone else has a issue ! I would assume since their screw up they would pay but you never assume as the saying goes never assume
Ok, I finally got around to having this fixed. The final verdict from FCA is that this is a known "calibration" issue from the factory and it was covered under my 5 year 100,000 mile power-train warranty (which for me expires Dec 31, 2019).
The fix action apparently isn't as easy as getting a longer dipstick though (maybe for internal clearance purposes?). Part #68154682AA (Original Dipstick) is replaced by Part # 68154685AC (Supersession(s): 68154682AA; 68154684AA Dipstick AND Tube) so there is some labor involved. Unfortunately my paperwork from the dealer does not include actual labor and or parts costs/amounts since it was fixed under the power-train warranty so I have no idea what it may cost for those out of warranty.
Because they replace both the dipstick and the tube, I would advise against just getting a longer dipstick (I'm assuming there is a reason they did this more expensively)...
