Way above my pay grade lol
Anything is possible and I just don’t have any background information other than the Dorman unit was well built with a smooth mating surface that included all seals and accepted the new OEM sensors without issue. Overall I’m pleased with it coming up on six months installed. Didn’t you do the Dorman unit also?
How do you like that DORMAN Oil Cooler/filter set up ? Thanks

I like it overall. It’s well made and the kit came with new seals including the manifold gaskets. The instructions were clear and had the torque specs included. I’d recommend it to someone doing the oil cooler repair.

I don’t mind trying if you tell me what I’m looking for and under what category the fan is found in.
Thanks! You're going to connect to Engine > then Chrysler Power tech/Pentastar/...

Screenshot_20240606_205313_AlfaOBD.jpg

Then once connected click the icon with the hood up. The options to try are "Radiator Cooling Fan PWM duty cycle" and "Electric fan command in PWM"...you can also try fan 1 and fan 2 but I think those are control circuits for the relays not present in our truck for non-PWM low-high speed only fans.

I will try these options tomorrow. Can you tell me what you want me to take note of? What am I looking for?

In short, does it command your fan to spin. Mine doesn't (I hear relay like noises but never turns on) but I've seen posts where others do this and it cycles up to full speed then off again.

I tried the Fan1 and Fan2 options and they produced nothing. AlfaOBD shows the procedure failed.

Radiator Cooling Fan PWM Duty Cycle did NOT physically activate the fan. It produced two different relay cycles and the procedure ended. In other words when I pushed START a double click of a relay was heard from the under hood fuse box. As soon as the first relay clicked twice another relay clicked twice and then procedure ended. It showed procedure completed in AlfaOBD.

Electric Fan Command in PWM turned on the fan and ran it from slow to full speed before turning off. The sequence of this test was after pressing start there is a relay click, fan spools up to high, second relay click and fan spools back down. AlfaOBD shows procedure complete.

Thanks brother! Will try the last one again to see if I get the same results. Probably won't get to it until Sunday though when I continue flushing the radiator.

Any time my friend. Hit me up if you need any other comparison tests. Good luck chasing down what you are looking for.

I actually had a chance to try it today. Mine makes the same noises as yours but the fan never cycles. Tried it with the hood up/hood down, ACC and finally with the engine running...no bueno. I think I'm going to try and order one of the fans off Amazon with free returns and see if it behaves differently. Thanks again!

I think this thread pretty much sums up what I am experiencing and I will probably just bite the bullet and get a new OEM MOPAR (P/N 52014772AF) fan since it worked for this user.

I have about 26k miles on my replacement Dorman. Seem solid so far.

Performing a second flush, this time I started by back flushing the heater core which is super easy on the 3.6. Glad I did because there was still casting sand in it. It started out with gummed up clumps of it and now I'm getting straight sand.

Captured a video of my radiator fan in operation. It used to run constantly with AC on and now it is cycling on and off with a strange left/right startup shimmy.

I recently replaced the oil filter housing/cooler and changed the coolant while I had it apart. I found the same temps as you were the norm on my 3.6. Highway the truck would cruise 60-65 with a near constant 215 temp on the OEM 204 degree thermostat. Coming off the highway the temps would climb to 220 or higher and would continue to climb to 230 with any additional in town driving. At 230 the fan would kick on and remain on till temps came down to 215-ish. Unfortunately the oil temps remain high and personally 230 coolant and oil temps worry me. I know that Jeeps use the 3.6 more than Rams so I searched the Jeep forums and found this is a pretty standard temp range on the 3.6. Unfortunately I was fat, dumb and happy before the oil cooler started leaking and never paid attention to what the old readings were prior to the repair. From what I gathered on the Jeep forums the electric fan comes on low at 212F and high at 230F. I’m not sure if or how this works as it would seem to me that the low fan would operate at the highway speeds of 215 but checking it’s operation at 215 or greater it’s not operating on my truck. Since I live in the southeast and we don’t really have a winter season I elected to delete all but the top and bottom row of the AGS. This in itself has lowered my engine coolant and oil temps drastically. I never see temps over 220 now even in city driving and it was 82F outside temps a few days ago. On the highway it’s steady at 200F @ 65mph and only rises to 210F coming off the highway. To the best of my knowledge the AGS delete does not have any adverse effect as some 3.6 trucks come from the factory without AGS although I do not know if these vehicles have different e-fan programming.
I am hitting the same temps for my 2023 Ram with the 3.6. As an aside, did you replace your oil cooler with an OEM or something else?

I would take that shi@ to a dealer to get that logged in their system in case it takes a dump. What year is it?

I used the Dorman aluminum unit. Six months no issues so far. It’s pretty good quality and comes with all the seals and gaskets. I think it’s actually a bit more expensive than the OEM unit now lol

Is that the new fan? When I ran the test with AlfaOBD my fan did the little left right shimmy before starting.
