So I found this chart on 4 wheel parts and circled my stock rpms at 65 mph. then circled the rpms at 4.11 and 4.54...I was thinking 4.54 would be a good fit because im also going to be uping my wheel size by 2 inches, so...let me know your opinions guys. I do a lot more city driving then highway. I only drive on the highway about 100-200 miles a month.

forgot the chart...dope haha

blue=best for highway, gray=middle ground, yellow=city

I'd go with the 4.56s.

More city than highway then do 4.56 I have them and they are just awesome. I can get pretty good mileage too. Got 17.2 average on way up to cabin towing my boat behind. The 4.56 gears allow for towing with ease and rocket like takeoff. The way I see it I never need to want to clear 100 mph anyway.

BTW...you want to take that chart and drop the given rpm range about 20% when your in OD.

I'd go with 4:56s

I don't know if you'd get 17 mpg though, but your mileage may not change much compared to what you're getting now.

If you are going to spend the money I think 4.56 is best but 4.10 would be okay too and less work for installer as we had to do some grinding to get mine in with Auburn.

I agree with mileage not changing much only reason I did so well this last trip was speed limit was 55 and I went about 57 most of trip.

thanks guys and thanks smiley for the pics. I have been leaning toward 4.56's. now...anyone in the Houston area know a reputable shop on r&p and LSD installs? I'd like to be able to get a warranty.

Did the Auburn and I love it works perfect. Do it while you do gears and it will be a better value and cost less then ripping into it later. Use cheaper conventional gear lube to break in gears and read proper way to do so at Randy's ring and pinion. I followed their procedure and changed lube after 500 miles to Amsoil and it works awesome. They don't recommend use of synthetic with auburn but I don't know why works great if it breaks I'll let you know.
