5.7 engine replacement

I have an 03 Ram 2500 with a 5.7 and a 5 speed that has 247,000 and on its way out. Will a 5.7 from an 05 with an auto bolt right in my 03?

2003 - 2008 in the 5.7L is the same. VIN code "D". If you plan to use the auto transmission, the cross member may be different. and of course you'll have to have the linkage to shift it.

If it’s from a 1500 the 05 will have an egr, but can just block it off an be good to go

I plan to keep my 5 speed and the 05 is a 2500

Block off the EGR port on the head and use your original 03 intake manifold (no EGR) with fresh gaskets (o-rings really), get you some fresh engine mounts and throw it in. There may be harness plug variations on some sensors, these can be mitigated by using the 03 sensors. Also reuse your 03 throttle body because the plug will be different. Clean it though.
