Hi Guys,

I traded yesterday my 1500 2014 for a Laramie 2019. No matter it came with most of the stuff I wanted still missing things that I need. So far, Break Controller which is mega important for me and the LED bed lights. I found both things online and purchased them. I was looking for ways to activate those features because is kind of ridiculous how much the dealer asked me for flash the computer for every single upgrade and I came across with this AlfaOBD but so far didnt found info for if it works with the 5th gen.

Did anybody have an idea? or mayybe other device that do the job?

I appreciate any help

I don't believe anyone has tried yet, at least not that I've seen reported. You might ask over in the 4th Gen AlphaOBD thread though, that's where most of the Alpha info is.

I had a 2019 CLASSIC / gen 4 and could hook u p to it and read the BCM and could see the settings but do NOT have a security bypass module / harness
I would expect alphaOBD to work on a 5th gen
IMHO it would be worth the cost of a cheap ELM bluetooth OBD adapter and the FREE AlphaOBD DEMO and see if it will connect
and you can use torque - pro for gauges ETC OR code reading ETC so it is not a BIG loss buying the OBD reader
IF it does NOT work I would expect the developers of ALPHA WILL get it working but won't know till someone tries it

Working with Grimm to see if we can get a security bypass, until that is figured out it will be a no go on 5th gen.

Hopefully this will be a possibility with a Gen 5, I've been very curious about this myself. I've been able to do so much to my Gen 4 that I'm absolutely amazed with AlfaOBD and the help here on the Forum.

The forum is amazing for the most part. There are always those few people that make you crazy lol.

If anyone knows where the canbus connectors are in the 5th gen please let me know. They aren’t under the drivers dash like they are in the 4th gen. I found someone on another forum saying they relocated it but didn’t say where. I’ve been unable to find it on the 2019.

They’re up there somewhere under the dash. Maybe passenger side. 2019s use the same gateway and same connectors as a 2018 2500, so a bypass for a 2500 should work.

I’m gonna go look at it today, so it should look the same as our 4th gen, green and white little tower.

Yes. They could be anywhere. Behind carpet, behind radio, etc...

Actually @DeereGuy is tackling this one but odds are the difference if any on the harness is minimal once he has eyes on the terminals from someone with a 5th gen

M² Mods.

Mike sent me a diagram, should be on the drivers side but must be up higher above the bcm than our 4th gen. These are some pics of the area on the 5th gen, where it would be on the 4th gen. I’m thinking it’s goung to be up higher over the bcm.

Sweet. Depending on length from the obd2 port the current 2500+ Bypass should work.
Ok I have one on my 2500, I’ll give that a shot and report back. Probably will be sometime next week. I think I’ll try something easy like turn off the drl and see if it works.

The 2500 harness worked perfectly as far as length, I set no horn on lock and no horn on remote start. Alfa said procedure complete, now just waiting to see if it works. He has push button start so not sure how long it will take, I tried cycling off to run a few times but settings haven’t changed as of yet.

I was also able to read the bcm and create a log, once I upload I’ll edit this post with a link.

I got to see the CAN connectors in person today also on a 5th gen. They are way up in there. Did you have a hard time reaching up in there to get to them?

Not at all, was a bit tight squeezing my hand through but it opens up above that bar, wasn’t hard to get back out either.

Good news I was able to add the sound horn on remote start csm as well as turn off horn on lock and sound horn on remote start.

I also was playing with firing lights on and off and locking and unlocking doors and it all worked fine.

I’m going to say that the 2500 harness and Alfa will work on 2019 1500, but people will have to test things and start a known working list for 5th gen.
