6.4 bge thats been in a fire

I looking for opinions on whether it's worth the 100 mile drive to go look at this engine. Guy is going to give me a real good price on it, he is parting it out. He doesn't have any other pictures. I'm sure anything plastic it melted off it , but do yall think it would salvageable for a rebuild ?

After the fire damage you will have water damage from the putting out the fire. Run!!!

I would look elsewhere. Too many potential problems.

I wouldn't be to scared of it,the long block will still be good,odds are you'll need a new intake manifold,but everything under it should still be good.If nothing else you have a hell'va good foundation for a 6.4 build.I'd rather buy one from a fire vehicle,then one from a wrecked vehicle,especially one from a head on collision or a roll over.

Real good price better be high three/VERY low 4 digits. You can find non-burned running take-outs for a few grand.

If you do get it and are putting it in the place of a 5.7, try to grab the Y pipe too.
