The MH pan holds about 7 quarts so I'd get at least 8 to be safe.

The torque rating of the stock 65RFE is somewhat hard to find. I've read 500ft/lbs is the max torque it can handle which is what the 5 stands for, 66RFE is 600ft/lbs, 68RFE 800ft/lbs. That was speculation on another forum but seeing as the 68RFE is bolted to the Cummins this is plausible. I've also read the 65RFE handles only 410ft/lbs which means the Hemi in stock form is maxing it out. Again saw this on another forum.

If anyone can find actual specs please post it!

Interesting thanks for the info, so i just looked at my build sheet and It say that I have the 545RFE transmission, is that any different when it comes to servicing than the 65RFE?

Nope they're pretty much identical mechanically. 65rfe has some programming differences and a different torque converter.

this is the PML 11079 ( deep pan with step) for my 66RFE. supposed to be around 2+ quarts over stock i think. the "fins" on the inside are all about 2.625" tall and the ones on the outside are about .4375" tall. The pan comes with a magnetic drain plug, allen head bolts and washers, catalog, instructions AND A STICKER!! i love stickers...

EDIT: this is the "cast finish".. no paint. $245. going with a white paint with a hardener from work. its getting painted this week sometime. I wanted white so i could see any drips easier. it will be a gloss finish. not the best color choice but functional.

Very nice indeed. It looks massive and the internal fins appear to be anti slosh baffles. Would that be correct?

I'd sure like to know this info as well , mainly on the 65RFE .
I've done a little searching around for the HP & Ft lbs of tq ratings , but I haven't been able to find solid #s ....

There is a small business in town here that is good at building transmissions. Ill call them and ask if they know, or know how to find out.

Just did a drain and fill with RL C+. I put in about 6.5 qts and its about halfway between cold and hot at 115F. I figure with the summer coming and higher trans temps on the horizon I'd leave it at 6.5 quarts.

Also the MH pan drain plug had a fine layer of metal shavings on it but nothing bad.

Nice to be able to simply drain & fill the xsmn oil with fresh fluids huh ?

I know it's overkill but I'll probably end up doing mine annually to keep good clean oil in the xsmn ...just because I can

I know it's easier than an oil change! I might do the same. It definitely won't hurt anything to change it that often and it offers the chance to check the magnet on the drain plug annually.

Wonder if you can get an additional magnetic drain plug from Mag-Hytec, so you could just quickly replace it occasionally with loosing minimal fluid , just for an inspection of the metals?

There is a port on the side of the pan that I'm assuming is there for a temp sensor so might be able to find a magnetic plug to fit that. Not sure if it's up high enough to not drain any fluid out though...

Queation,

I was wondering after i get the OEM filters out after 10,000 miles what would you guys recommend for frequency of filter changes? I can do the oil (just a change) maybe ever other year ( about 18,000 mile intervals). But not sure if i should change the filters every time or not. If not that would be 36,000 on the filters. Remember i have a 66rfe.

I was planning on doing fluid and filters every 18,000 but didnt know if it was a waste.

And we should really be posting this stuff in the transmission thread.LOL
