Guys i need some help.
Bought a 2015 1500 5.7 8 speed crewcab back in October with 25k miles
Truck developed 1-2 flare shortly after. Went to the dealer, they upgraded the software. Didn't fix it, next was a valve body, now a new transmission has been installed. Was told the trans was going be a brand new unit, it's not. Still upset about that, but that another story.
Anyway, truck still shifts weird. I've had the 1-2 flare a few times since the trans was installed. It's odd, but it sounds like the truck has a manual transmission when it shifts gears 1 thru 4, 5 thru 8 is nice and crisp.
I was given a 5.7 8 speed loaner truck, it shifted perfect. Told this to the service manager, he tried telling me it had an 845re in the loaner, which I know is BS.

I've taken my truck on two 4 hr road trips since the trans was installed, both times the trans temp will start to creep while running 65-70 mph. Normally trans temp will run 190 to 200, even pulling a 5k lbs trailer. Well on the road trips, the trans temp has got up to 220 - 225 not pulling . When the trans is this hot, it has a whine to it, I assume it related to the temperature ?

At this point I'm mot sure if I feel comfortable taking the truck on a long trip, especially pulling a trailer.

Going to the dealer Friday to talk to the service manager and hopefully the General manager.
I'm just so fed up with this truck at this point, not sure what to do.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would talk to service manager on Friday as planned. If you aren't satisfied with your meeting you could try another dealer. Another option is to pm ramcares and see what they can do for you.

I don't recall ever seeing my trans temp that high.

And you would be correct. 845RE was only in the V6 engines. All 4th gen V8s with the 8-speed have the 8HP70.

If they lied to you about a new transmission, and installed something else, I wouldn't trust them with anything after that, especially if it didn't fix the issue. As others stated, try other dealerships, and work with RamCares. Its entirely possible they did not follow the proper fill procedure for the tranny fluid, as these German transmissions have a very specific procedure for filling. Assuming everything else was done properly and is working properly, that would explain the temps, and it won't shift quite right if the fluid is low either.
