Trying to figure out if I want to just put good 9006 bulbs in dad's fogs or if I wanna modify some 9005s and drop those in instead.

Who is running 9005s in their stock fogs and has been for a while? Noticed any wiring or switch issues?

I saw a write up about that on another site and IIRC, there were no issues with doing the upgrade. I can't remember where I saw it though. I was thinking about doing it too.

I put a set of Silver Star 9005s in my fogs before I did HIDs, was an amazing upgrade. Fogs were better than low beams, together visibility was very good

Had any issues with getting flashed on the highway?

I might just have him get 9006s from Rockauto when ordering headlight housings and bulbs and buy 9005s locally myself so it's on me in case I eff em up.

I made sure they were aimed nice and low, never had a problem getting flashed. Pretty much everybody runs with fogs on around here anyway haha, so I blended in. Kind of quit doing that when I put the HIDs in the fogs, gawddamn those are bright now

Nice. Good to hear. Since it'll be a while before he makes an order I think what I'll do is just buy a couple XtraVison 9005s to play with and see what happens. That'll help me figure out if I need him to order 9006s for the fogs or what.

My dad's truck is a 2WD so it's already pretty low up front, so hopefully I don't have to tip them down.

That seems pretty simple. Any other suggestions on how to flatten the guides out without a soldering iron?

Both. The plug hooked right up, the bulb just took some wiggling to get the tabs in to lock the bulb in place

Good to know. I'll try that before I start grinding on one.

Was gonna install 'em today. Turns out my Dremel can't reach far enough down into the socket....sooooo I'll have to take them with me to work this weekend and I'll install and test them there. :D

Finished modding the bulbs and installed them here at work.

They don't look that impressive on the wall, I mean...they're whiter and a bit brighter, but nothing impressive.

It's when I pulled out of the spot and drove off that I noticed the difference.

Oh my. :naughty:

Pics when I get home after the weekend and have a real wifi

In a 4th gen? I used the quads high beam bulbs in my fogs. No modification at all. Just a 25 watt increase in power. Nice and bright.
