Any ideas why FCA puts the 6.4L engine in the Durango (Jeep and RAM 2500 also), but not the RAM 1500? The Durango is not a very large SUV but you can get a R/T 4 WD with/Tow and Go package and a 392 cu APACHE!

Yep... not the same motor.
6.4L for Ram is built for longevity not just occasional burnouts...
Still, if they'd offered a 6.4 Hemi as an option in the 1500s I'd have got one for my Laramie!
FWIW- I think they should at least offer it in the Warlock or Rebel trims as an option.

This is a 6.4 485/475

And what was said above. the HD RAMs 6.4 is not the race engine in the JGC, Durango, Charger and Challenger.

My motor is Orange are the ones in the RAM orange also?

They should make a ram 1500 srt8 with 485 hp 6.4. Similar to the old srt10s. 2wd, slightly lowered, limited slip rear. Would be a killer truck since no one makes street trucks anymore.

There would be no reason to put the 2500 6.4 in the 1500 since it's not much more powerful. I don't know how resilient the 6.4 car engine is to lots of towing and hauling.

I'll take just a plain old big horn with a 485 hp 6.4. No need to ruin it with all your other ideas :)

But the 2500 6.4 is significantly more powerful. You're just comparing peak hp/torque, but the entire powerband is much stronger even for just daily driving or towing. There is a reason why the 5.7 is no longer offered in the 2500 and why the 6.4 could tow so much more than the 5.7 could in pre 2019 2500's.

Agreed, and it was one of the attractions for me before I learned about Hemi Tick. No other half ton v8 on the market at this point ever saw usage in a 2500. I'm not making light of the 5.7, just trying to show that peak hp/torque is only 1 part of the equation and the 2 engines should not be compared based on that single spec.
