I have not attempted any map updates.
When I did the 39.6, I had read somewhere that UAQ needed to add a map file. Latest I had seen was from I think the 22.4 file, which has a date of 2017. (I still had the flashdrive setup for 39.6, so I just swapped the VP4R folder, leaving the map file directory alone.)

I installed 40.1, with the map file I had still on the drive from 39.6. Loaded fine, even doing it while driving on the highway (again...)

I'll be honest, I don't think it changes anything, but I know the NHTSA thing was for a "glitch", so I'm happier to have it than not. Did see Performance Pages for the first time, although I still have my Rebel configured as a truck, not a challenger/charger. (Tried it once, and saw the fuel gauge do weird crap, and got scared.)

When I went to 40.1 the performance pages were gone

I have a 2019 Ram 1500 with the uconnect 12. I cant get at&t wifi and from what I've read to get it to work so I can actually create an account to get wifi in my truck, I need to have software version 40.1. It looks like my current version is 21.03 and I need to create 2 update USB drives to do so. Can someone tell me if this is in fact correct and if so where do I find the files to create the update usb drives?

I can't say what SW update you need for your 5th gen radio (not really being kept up with in this thread, 4th gen radios only) ... But I can tell you that those Panasonic 5th gen radios go by the "Application Version" which yours is on v34.31.0

I just have a few quick questions... :)

I have Application Version: CANADA-ASO-8.4-JR-30.24.0-20191016-J0HQ installed right now on my 2020 RAM 15 Classic (Warlock). If I wanted to upgrade to 40.1, would I have to apply the previous updates between 30.24 and 39.6 before applying this update? (30.24->34.2->39.5->39.6) Can I upgrade from 30.24 to 39.6 directly, then upgrade to 40.1?
Is it also "safe" to use these updates over Canadian version of this software/firmware?

Thanks!

It's my understanding that you need to be in v34.x before you can go to v39.x

According to the TSB, the minimum firmware is 22.64 so you should be able to go straight to 40.1

Edit: From the TSB "At or above 22.64 and under 40.1 >>> The radio will only need one USB update" The TSB posted is for UAQ/UCQ radios but I believe the UAS/UCS reads the same (just can't find it).

Edit 2: UAS TSB reads similar https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2023/MC-10231777-9999.pdf

Thank you so much for the info!

Just to confirm (since I’ve never performed an update before), does the ignition key have to be ON (engine running) or just turned to the RUN/ON position? (or can it be done while only turned to accessories only?)

Thanks again!

I do it with the engine running but typically it only needs to be in run. I also try not to enter or exit the vehicle after starting and if I'm going to sit in the truck I do it from the passenger seat (the USB harness is under the driver's seat and mine can be touchy sometimes).

Thanks for the Links SnK. (I need to update Mom's UAQ with missing map database files and hopefully get the nav to work again when it updates from v22.60 to v40.1)

>> Looks like the updated TSB says that if you are between v19.1 and 22.60 (less than v22.64) = update to v28.3 first, then you can go to v40.1 safely

--------------------------

2. What is the current radio software level (Application Version)?

• 40.1 or higher >>> The radio software is already up to date. Normal diagnostics should be performed.

• At or above 22.64 and under 40.1 >>> The radio will only need one USB update. Proceed to Step 1 of the Repair Procedure.

• At or above 19.9 and under 22.64 >>> The radio will need two USB updates. Proceed to Step 1 of
the Repair Procedure.

CAUTION! If this software is used on a radio with software level under 19.9, it could damage the radio. If the radio is damaged it may need to be replaced. Updating the radio directly from software level IR19.9 to QR40.1
will cause the radio to be damaged and it will need to be replaced. Always remember to properly perform the two step update if required. Start the two step update using 28.3 software.

--------------------------

First of all I'd like to give a shout out to @Lurker55 for providing the ram UAQ 40.1. Here is the link to his v40.1 UAQ zip file.

and From post 1...
... I have personally installed all three of these on my Compass/Cherokee and RAM UAQ radio and all functionality including SiriusXM, Navigation, CarPlay, backup camera, etc. all work with zero issues.

Here's the link to all of those v21.9 to v39.x files:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Uc6gYueoqOdCo93y3FgaMiZFSBmPKSE6?usp=sharing

NOTE: If you download any of these files and use them on your own radios and damage your device, I'm not responsible. However, I have updated and downgraded my radios with these files and have had zero issues.

I hope this can help others to fix their radios or just tinker!

Thanks for all the info!

I've seen others mention adding missing map database files when performing these updates. Where would one find these updates? I've searched and haven't had any luck.. seems like my map database is currently PROD_2019.03.28_MY20_CW13_LUNA_CONTENT_NA | Content_NA_HM_18Q2. (updating the maps isn't a high priority as I typically use CarPlay/Waze anyways ;))

Also, when I was chatting with Lurker55 and while ago, he said my VIN number shows I should (I'm guessing) be using files for UCQ model? I'm not too sure what that means.. so I figured I'd ask! (current version is: CANADA-ASO-8.4-JR-30.24.0-20191016-J0HQ)
Will UCONNECT_UAQ_8.4_QR40.1_MY18-21 work on my radio? (My Radio does currently have NAV)

Thanks again!

UCQ is the Canadian version of the UAQ (American). If your truck was sold for the Canadian market and you are in Canada you'll want the UCQ version. I think I have it if you need it, just PM me.

I went from I think V19, to V28, to V39, to V40.1. I forget exactly what my truck had last year when I started this process.

Also, I found a new feature in 40.1, or at least I think it's a new feature.

Had a Brand New firetruck coming in the opposing lane of a 2 lane road, and the uConnect popped up a message much like the weather alerts, saying "Emergency Vehicle approaching", and I had the options of Dismiss, and "not there", but it missed the fire truck and cop stopped at an accident 15 minutes later that were on my direction of travel. So not sure exactly what the trigger is.

Possible to send me the UCQ update as well? I have a 2018 Canadian Ram with the 8.4.
