Just got off the phone with DirtKing. These guys are definitely getting my business if or when my air suspension decides to go south. We decided to go with the Fox 2.0 system all the way around for the best ride possible for the street. I am thinking the standard non-air ride Ram height will be a slight lift from my current "normal" ride height. Maybe someone that has already done this conversion can give me a better idea on the height before and after ??

I don't have any answers for your air ride conversion questions, sorry. I was just curious if Dirt King would do any custom tuning on the Fox 2.0s for you or are they just selling you the off the shelf shocks?

When the time comes i am going to buy the standard 2.0 off the shelf. I could have them custom tuned but before i did that i would probably just go the adjustable 2.5 route. I may also go with a 2" taller setup than the stock 1500 height.

Cool. I think those 2.0s are a good route to go. I was actually planning on going that route, but settled on the ICON 2.5 front/2.0 rear when I came across a great price for them.

the fox struts are adjustable from 0-2” of lift, preset from factory at 2”.

i put a set on my wifes yukon denali. Nice units. Kind of a pain in the ass to adjust, though.

Just wanted to chime in... I have a 2018 Ram 1500 Eco-Diesel that "had" air ride. I might add that this is my 7th RAM I have owned over the years. Until this happened I was a dyed-in-the-wool fanboy... So When my air ride gave out I went to (2) different dealers and they both told me it would be roughly $6K to fix it AND!!!! the same parts would go on as before so it would likely fail again. I learned of "Strutmasters" from attending SEMA. They offer a kit that solves the issue for right around $1000 (Front coilover struts, rear coils and rear shocks). A no brainer for me. Simple install (About 2.5 Hours). My truck had 59K on it when this occurred. To say I am unhappy with RAM corporate... I have heard way TOO many instances of air suspension failure and absolutely ZERO attempt by them to make it right. My two cents!!!

How many miles did you have on it when it quit working?

I was quoted a similar price to fix that system in a Jeep GC air equipped. I hated the aero BS going down or not been able to hold max height without having a POS harsh ride. I'm sure for those who need a bone stock rig for couple of years on a lease the idea sounds amazing. You can get the full Carli King setup on your RAM 1500 for less than what the factory wants to fix that stuff..... Lol sorry for the rant. reading about it brought those memories back.

From the people who have done the conversion seems a straight forward upgrade.
I remember reading somebody here saying this wasn't possible because the dash will be filled with dtc's ? These dudes from rebel.org doesn't appear to side with that notion, and as far as what's needed with the electronics, seems it couldn't get any easier....

I'll try to condense as much as i can from what i read on this thread, but remember i don't have the air chit so you must validate yourself :)

Couple of dudes did the conversion with the Rancho QL setup, somebobody else did it with 5100's. You bet you can use whatever you want including real coilovers.

https://www.ramrebel.org/threads/finally-getting-air-suspension-removed.49871/

All have the same thing to say: Truck rides better without the air ride chit.
thread started Dec 6 2018 with the dude that did the Rancho QL setup , same dude post Jan 2020 so the setup is still working for him.

From post# 91, but i recommend to read the entire thread. Post #91 is the dude that did 5100 who consulted with the OP on the thread, and it seems between both they did the all the hard leg work of what needed to run without the air setup:

"Ok guys so here is an update.

For anyone who has done this mode. Make sure you DO NOT remove fuse F87 10A. This also controls your trailer brake module. I also reinstalled the air suspension relay K3 in the fuse box.

I’ve purchased AlfaOBD and am running Windows 10. Works like a charm. Once you have it running follow these steps.

Go into body control module (BCM) > active diagnostics > car configuration change > P/T Chassis Net-ASCM Air Suspension Control Module (change to: Not Enabled)

Once these steps are done you will no longer see the warning each time you start the truck.

All this credit goes to Vshni for helping me through all of this.

So just a quick recap. You only need to remove the F05 (40A Fuse) and F50 (20A) for the air suspension. So far nothing else has been affected."

Then post#92
"Also the dealer is unable to remove the air suspension code by adding SE8. I had a friend search through the sales codes available and it was not on the list. So it looks like AlfaOBD is the only option."

I never removed the compressor. I only pulled the 40A and 20A. Try that first.

"Sorry for the questions, but I cannot seem to get anyone to even consider swapping out the air suspension. One shop mentioned that removing the system would put the truck into "limp" mode and it would never function correctly. Another shop said they would do the work but will not make any modification as far as welding, drilling and also would not take any responsibility if errors occur. I believe you mention that your Rebel is a 2017. Do you know if the parts list for the 2018 would be the exact same?

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated."

"It's all a direct fit no modifications needed it wont put the truck into limp mode I drove around for months after removing it before I ordered the stuff to remove the error code if you dont mind the 1 warning ding everytime you start the truck you dont even have to remove the error code"

So, i'll dump that POS system as fast i could say Get it done.... Lol
