Alright, here's a question. Can this method be used to turn DRL's OFF? I just found out my truck was originally owned in Canada (used dealership didn't tell me that...surprise!), where DRL's are mandatory. Sounds straightforward, but nothing about vehicles are anymore...
Its a 2013 big horn 1500
There is no special receiver involved or any other hardware. The code just needs to be enabled in the BCM and it will work. Many of us have done it with no issues. The problem the dealer may have is he might not be able to enable the actual code unless it shows up in your list of available options. Everything else for the dealer is grayed out. The alfa tool can enable all codes in the BCM. Unfortunately many dealers don't have much knowledge on how these trucks work as far as codes go and enabling certain options.I just called a local ram dealer they want $149.00 to look at it to see if the alarm can be activated. He said it might be the receiver. Dont think so as the keyfob and remote start work

Well I did read some post in this one of some activating the alarm not sure of year or how it was done as I did see the menu for the alphaOBD and I did not see anything for an alarm activationView attachment 159846
Have you gone to the very first post in this thread, yet? It is in the known working list link in the first post. Like said before, it’s called VTA (vehicle theft alarm).Well i guess I will purchase the program and module and then come back here to see if I can get someone how has actually done this and what option in the menu did he select.
this is all I see for the alarm section.
ALARM VAS97 TILT SENSOR SIGNAL: the input status of this sensor EXTERNAL VOLUMETRIC SENSORS SIGNAL: the input status of the sensors LAST ALARM: the cause of the last alarm indication (siren) that occurred with the system in the surveillance mode EMERGENCY KEY ALARMS: the number of alarms caused by the cutting of the cables connecting the emergency key and the control unit when the system is in the surveillance mode KEY IN MAR ALARMS: the number of alarms caused by the key being positioned on MAR with the system in the surveillance mode +30 AND CABLES CUT ALARMS: the number of alarms caused by the alarm control unit power supply cables being cut when the system is in the surveillance mode ENABLINGS MADE: the number of times the system has been enabled in the surveillance mode VOLUMETRIC SENSORS ENABLE: shows whether the volumetric sensors have been disabled by turning the ignition key TILT SENSOR: shows whether the tilt sensor is present in the system, or whether it is connected directly to the control unit, or located in the ceiling lamp VOLUMETRIC SENSORS: shows whether the volumetric sensors are present in the system, or whether they are connected directly to the control unit, or located in the ceiling lamp TILT SENSOR ENABLE: shows whether the tilt sensor has been disabled by turning the ignition key NUMBER OF ALARMS: the number of alarms caused by the corresponding unit when the system is in the surveillance mode
You're not understanding what people are telling you. All the alarm is is a code that is activated in the BCM and it detects if any doors or hoods are opened when the truck is locked. There are no modules there is no special anything you just need to turn on the code it is one of the most common options we enable and there's probably over a 100 of us that have done it. The factory alarm does not have a motion sensor it is strictly and intrusion alarm device.Ok I just read the area you said.

If all equipment has been installed> Is there a way for me to know the alarm is there but not activated?
Im hoping it is installed but not activated it has the panic button that sets off the horns and lights and I'm sure the alarm shares this also for when armed and doors open.
I guess I kneed to find out if the alarm is in truck but not activated.
I guess I would have to buy the program and module to find this out.
thanks all who have given me info in regards to the alarm
It’s present on all rams, just waiting to be enabled in the bcm. It all sounds confusing now, but once you have the software in hand, and start navigating with it, it’ll become clear if you follow the settings in the known working list.Ok I just read the area you said.

I do not have that option under settings/lightsYes, you should be able to add the CSM to your radio under settings/lights/daytime running lamps. It is located almost near the bottom in the customer settings menus.
