I know the 2017+ trucks have microphones in the headliner and not the mirror, but can I use a 2016 or earlier smartbeam mirror in my 17 truck?

I used a 13-16 harness on my 17 auto dimming mirror with no mics. The pinout is the same just the 2017 has less wires.

So that's what "MAR" (sprinkled through the AlfaOBD documentation) means ... "Run"? I had the key in ACC. Will try tomorrow and advise.
Thanks for the guidance!!

The developer can look at the debug log and determine it somehow.

I don't even need my key on to program my 14 even though it shows you need to have it in the run position. I'm not sure if that's the norm. I have the paid Android version with the OBD MX bluetooth. Try tomorrow and let us know how it goes.

Yes, MAR is the run but vehicle off position. MAR comes from the Fiats I believe.

I liked adding the Auto High Beam to the Ram so much that I just ordered an Auto High Beam mirror for our '14 Durango. Going to try to AlfaODB on it when it gets here.

Thanks! This should help in finding a mirror that supports SmartBeam.

Another question - anyone know if rain sensing wipers use the same sensor? Or is there something more complicated (or additional parts required)?

I think there is a humidity sensor involved, I've not sure where it goes though. Hopefully it's not like my wife's Subaru where it's built into the windshield glass.

Armed with the knowledge that "MAR" = "RUN", I was able to successfully make all the changes I wanted using AlfaOBD.
Either it was that, or I simply got a good nights sleep ;)

Thanks to all that provided guidance. Great forum, great people!!

Answered my own question - there is a bracket "permanently mounted" to the windshield if you got rain sensing wipers. The sensor setup attaches to that bracket. I dont think you can find the bracket separately and just add it on, so I wont really bother trying. It does look like the bracket and sensor are the only things you would need (and maybe the extra wiring), since the multifunction stalk seems to be the same between them.

Where are you located? Anyone else around you that has it to try? I had to disconnect and reconnect mine a couple times to get the CSM options to show for me.

Tell them you need your BCM re-flashed. At least that’s what I would do.

Ceasar, I agree with STecoD. Since you have no way to see any of your BCM logs before you started making changes if I were in your situation I would have the truck reflashed by the dealer and then be extremely careful in the future when you use the tool to activate to codes. It is the only way you are going to know for sure that there isn't anything you changed that you didn't realize that needs to be put back. Especially with all the DTC codes your truck has.

Figured I would post a picture of my Smart Beam (auto high beam) mirror just for reference in case people are considering installing them. This is what they look like. they are very often listed incorrectly on eBay and on other websites so it's good to know what it should look like.View attachment 143622

I realize we are getting a bit OT with these mirrors, but it just hit me - will I need a different two-part trim cover for a smartbeam mirror? I have the 911/autodim mirror now with the larger two part cover.

Yes you will need a different lower cover with the hole for the lens. MpGrimm2 has all the part numbers listed. The wrecking yards will sometimes include the covers with the mirrors. I reccomend waiting untill you get the mirror before you order the cover.

I recently changed my open 3.21 diff to an lsd 3.55 any options I can flash in the bcm? I found rear axel locker present or something like that so I switched it to Yes, it was NO by default. I can't find axel gear ratio anywhere, weird because I could have sworn I saw it before.
