All,

Just wanted to let you know that I have been able to program key fobs and REMOTE START using AlfaOBD tool. Thank you @Ghost_RAM and @Moab_Rockstar for all your assistance.

Just to recap I have a 2017 1500 Express.

Installed the harness that deereguy donated to me. (can also get terminal repair kit and make your own, or find terminate the connection which may be installed in your truck already.
If you order the kit from mopar it has everything and comes with fobs although is more expensive.

Ordered key fob cases from Ebay with the remote start overlay. Opened old fobs and removed board and installed in the new case. (SOME FIT SOME DO NOT)

I also ordered some cheap fobs just incase as spares.

I programmed all fobs using the Alfa tool using the base line setting in the RF hub menu. (Alexy said use HIline setting but it would not work for me)

I exited the tool and went to lunch.

I then went back in and set the following about an hour later.

Hood Ajar Switch Input Present

VTA System Present --- Not needed for remote start but why not have that cool theft alarm

Hood Ajar Switch Usage (Select “500 ohm and 500 ohm parallel resistors)

Sound Horn with Remote Start CSM --- Give you the options on the 8.4 screen to enable or disable horn chirps with remote start.

I saved and exited the tool.

I then.went back in about 30 minutes later and set remote start to yes.

Exited again.

I then did the rf hub refresh using 4 digit numeric pin code from the dealer.

Then I waited very impatiently trying every 15 minutes or so and rechecked my wiring thinking I made a mistake.

I gave up for the night and about 1.5 hours later after going back a fourth with Ghost_ram i tried it again and it started working.

I have a full functioning remote start kit for right around 100.00 not counting the software.

I will post more detailed instructions with screen shots later this weekend.

I believed it has been looked at in depth and Alpha no. A tuner I believe you can. Or use tow haul mode selection.

Mines an 8 speed. The tow/haul doesn’t work only with 6 speeds

Used the same hub, used the stock harness deereguy provided that has extra and ran it all the way to the firewall. There are a couple options either tap in under the fuse box. (I did not do this because I could not find the end as it was all taped up.

You can buy the repair kit which has the connector in it and you would only need some wire, a pin for the BCM and a eye to.ground.

For my truck it went into pin 11 of the B M harness.

You can hit the +/- on your steering wheel and set the gear limited to eight. You will still get all of your gears but MDS will be disabled.

Question for the group: I have a 2015 tradesman 3500 that I swapped out the seats from a 2011 Longhorn (no side airbags). So now I have the SRS airbag warning light.

Now with Ram 4500/5500 they do not have side airbags. I have the Alfa tool. Do you think this option can be reprogrammed in the body computer? I searched but I can't seem to locate it

I haven't seen anything in the BCM either (just some options for the passenger airbag monitors) but there is an option to connect to the airbag module. I haven't even looked at it due to my (justified, imo) terror of futzing with anything involving the airbag system. It might be that the system gets it's "what am I supposed to have" info from reading the vehicle line and body style info from the BCM though. In that case, maybe there is someone out there that produces a bypass module, something that can be plugged in where the airbag should be and tells the system "yup, I'm here". Might be something an upfitter uses...

Hot Damn!

Finally installed my Aux Panel/Switch and Relay box, plus the trailer controller. Man what a... well pita is the only word really. I could not for the life of me get the relay box mounted on the firewall like most suggest. There was just too much angle for me to get any bite with self tapping screws. After almost an hour of trying different drills/extensions/etc I finally said uncle and found a different spot.

So the tray that holds the fuse box/center next to the battery conveniently had one hole available, I utilized it and drilled a second hole. But, I wasn't able to get a good nut on the back side, so had to resort to the cable tie for now. I'll make a trip to the hardware store to see what I can come up with.

Everything else went ok - I used the clutch delete plate and one of those universal firewall grommets to run the wire through, and added the trailer brake controller at the same time.

AlfaOBD made quick work of the trailer brake, and I just set the Aux options as well and am letting it sleep.

The only issue I've run across is buttons 1 and 2 do not come on unless the key is turned (like 3,4,5). They are supposed to be hot at all times. I haven't installed any fuses yet in the relay box, not sure if the fuses need to be installed for them to work sans key. I'll also check the config after it sleeps as I saw in CBG's vid that it has the option to set them to battery or ignition.

EDIT - not sure this location is going to work out - did a quick errand/test run and when I got home the box was really, really warm. Not sure how warm it would be comparatively at the firewall, but it really seemed warm where i have it now. So back to the drawing board on location I guess.

Could someone who has theirs mounted on the Firewall check theirs after driving for a bit? Mine gets too almost too hot to hold my hand against for more than a few seconds in it's current location.
