I too had to switch to the "first click" of the key to get hours to change (as opposed to run).

Can't change idle speed, that's in the ECU firmware not settable by alfa.

You would need a tuned ECU setup to do that.

So I have tried to read and decipher this thread with mind numbing results. I see the AlphaOBD app in the playstore for $49, but the reader in the original post is not available. Will this work with any adapter, or do I need a specific one? Can I change tire size with this?

Thanks in advance..... .

That I do not know. I haven't tried it nor have I heard of anyone else trying it so you may be ahead of the curve on this...

Not possible....idle speed is "burnt" into the ECU firmware.

If you go to a tuned ECU, the firmware provided by the tuner can adjust idle RPM.

If you already have a reader you can try it with the one you have first (it will work with many). I used a cheap $10 reader for most of my changes. It was only when I needed to make changes to program an instrument cluster that the OBDLink MX was required.

I don't have one yet. Main things I need to be able to do are tire size/speedometer adjust, DLR (location and drop) and will be adding a factory back up camera in the future.

The MX+ is available, works the same and would also recommended by the developer. Just go to scantool.net

With that to do list I would recommend the MX or MX+

This is quoted from a member on jeepgarage-
“I have successfully changed the values with Appcar DiagFCA. Those are the same default values. It took some understanding of how it works and two attempts. I will try to log back in and tell you the values but the changes I made are not that dramatic. I had the same issues with full sunny weather in the morning, but facing away from the sun, and the headlights would be on.

I increased the ON threshold to 3.75 V and also the OFF threshold to 2.75 V but I will double-check. The logic is that the darker it gets, the higher the Voltage reported by the sensor. So you set the threshold for activation at a higher Voltage read-out by the sensor (i.e. it is darker outside) and the threshold for turning off also higher, so the headlights turn off sooner. You have to change both, otherwise and possibly even make the difference between them smaller than factory settings. If you just change the ON value, requiring a higher voltage for activation = darker outside and leave the OFF value unchanged, then as it gets progressively sunnier / less overcast etc. your headlights still stay activated because the sensor will trip the circuit when daylight hits cloudless Hawaii beach levels.

Auto Headlamp ON Threshold: 3.75 V
Auto Headlamp OFF Threshold: 2.75 V”

I tried setting tunnel detection before, and it just caused the headlights to stay on all the time with no way of shutting them off (until the truck was off).

@Jimmy07 Have you finalized this experiment? If so I would like to hear about it and see your numbers.
When backing out of a garage the Auto lights are on and the reverse cam screen is dimmed accordingly and cannot be viewed in a sunny cab until the auto lights go to off.
I would like the reaction to be faster.

Is there a way to reprogram my two key fobs from my 2017 6.7 Ram to my 2016 Ram 2500 with Alpha OBD? I've programmed two before but they were new Mopar fobs and had not already been programmed. I only got one key fob with my 2016 and I kept the two non remote start fobs from my 17'.

So I went out today to try the tip from @Gixxer750 and am having trouble getting the alfa app to communicate with the mx+ reader. With the mx+ plugged into the obd2, and lights on the mx+ indicate there is power and bluetooth is working, I open the alfa app and select the bluetooth option, but the mx+ does not appear as an option. Anyone else ever run into this and know how to get them communicating again?

It's been probably 6 months since I have used it but this is the first time I've run into this problem.

When this happens, I have to go into my phone Bluetooth settings, delete the pairing, then re-pair the device (all in Android settings, not AlfaOBD).

I ran into it with my MX that I hadn't used in 6 months and then it gave me a message that there was an update. When I did the update it bricked the MX and after a week of messaging back and forth with scantool they gave me warranty and sent me a brand new MX + for free.

Awesome thanks I will try that here shortly.

Oh wow well hopefully SitKneelBends suggestion works, I was really hoping the mx+ itself hadn't fully stopped working. Glad you got a new one eventually.

Press the button on the MX and re-pair it to your device. If I change from tablet to laptop I have to re-pair to the tablet to get the connection working again. Now I just use the tablet because it is easier to remember that it is ready to go.

Just to update if anyone else is looking at this in the future..deleted the pairing from phone to mx+ and repaired but it still couldn't find mx+ on the alfa app. Then I saw Cliffs post and tried the reset button on the mx+ and then they were able to communicate. So thank you for the help there! I'm using my gf's android since I have an iphone, and forgot she has gotten a new phone since the last time I used mx+ and alfa.

Back to my original problem @Gixxer750 I did the 15 second test of the lights and saw the same results as when I'm using the truck. All other lights work, drivers low beam on at 50% strength at best, I can notice this at night especially if I am behind another truck with a clean tailgate, looks like my truck is winking but you can still see some light coming from the drivers side. I didn't see where to find/verify the voltage that you were talking about, I forgot how extensive these menus are to make changes or check things, would you be able to point out roughly where I can check the voltage?

For now I've switched my drl from the low beam to the parking lights, so at least people can't call padiddle against me during the daytime.

You actually need memory-capable mirrors, which by default are also folding.

99.9% of the memory capable mirrors will have chrome caps. The other 0.1% might be body matched painted, there seemed to be a few Sport models that might have come with them.

You do not need the actual memory function (seats, etc), you just need the mirrors that would have it. Then enabling Auto Tilt In Reverse through Alfa would make them tilt down in reverse.

Did this mod to my truck and like it very much. Got a decent deal on some chrome cap mirrors off a Harvest Edition
Can you post a link on where to get them?
