I was wondering if anyone has installed aftermarket bulbs that were brighter and whiter than the factory ones. I was looking to install hid's on my new sport, but my father who was a head mechanic for dodge strongly adviced me against them. He told me that he saw countless disasters with the hid lights ranging from burnt housings to destroyed wiring harnesses. on my last ram ( 2003 ) I had installed the Sylvania silverstars. They were better than the factory ones but still not quite what I was looking for.

I have yet to hear any problems from concerning burnt housings or destroyed wiring harnesses with most HID kits now-a-days. It really depends on who you buy them from. You get what you pay for basically.

I hate to sound like a broken record around here but JJ himself is a good salesman because he uses his customers to sell the product for him after you purchase from him with the service he provides. I'd recommend trying out some HID's from him.

Like warl said, a proper HID kit for your truck will work flawlessly. The problem with HID's is that too many people try to buy cheap knockoff kits on ebay that do not have the proper can bus adapters or wiring harness. If you buy a correct kit for your truck, they will last for years without any problems.

35w HIDs wont damage a thing. They honestly probably aren't much hotter than standard Halogens. If you're still afraid, go with LED headlights

I bought my h11 hid kit from distinctive hid 4 years ago. Had it on a 2011 sierra with drl on low beam and now on my ram, and still work flawlessly.

Paid around 150-200 $ for it, but Worth every penny.

I changed 3 weeks ago for h11r bulb ( with glare shield) but I still have my original ballast.

HIDs are fine with quality equipment, stay away from the super cheap bargain bulbs and bargain ballast, and all will be fine. I run 50 watt ballast and have no issues on any vehicles I've had.

Thank you guys for the suggestions. my old man retired like 10 years ago so maybe the kits sucked back in those days. I definitely wanna get the hid's put in cause the look awesome. I also had no intentions of going cheap either. I'll shoot Jeremy an email and get some more info.

you got a 2015 so wait up... what will work are LED bulbs in the highs and fogs - i had success with bulbs from xenondepot: LED Headlight Lights | Philips LED Headlight bulbs
they are very bright but cost quite a bit.

for the lows we got to wait a little till guys like JJ come up with a solution which i hope is close.

I've had DDM kits on 3 different vehicles since 2009 and have had to replace one ballast and one bulb in that time frame, the lifetime warranty is awsome. I also get the harnesses and error eliminators though.

DDM's wont work on the 2015's, i had a set laying around with the error eliminators, 5 seconds is the max they would stay on :(.

That is weird. Did you call them to see what they recommended? I was the first one to out a set in a 2014 grand cherokee (they went to the same pulse width modulation as the rams that year) and they walked me through different steps to get them working.

Check these out 42 Watt LED Headlight Conversion Kit.. Complete plug and play, bright as hell, lower watt than halogen bulb, white color

Blackbeauty, have you personally used these lights? From what I have read the LED headlights are significantly brighter but lack in distance, even compared to the stock halogen. Personally, I would prefer to go this route rather than wiring in HIDs, but haven't seen too many good reviews on the LEDs.

I think the headlights in my 14 Ram Express Black edition are amazing as is stock. Of course one of my other cars is a 1961 Mercury Comet. The stock lights on it are about the same as a mini maglight.
