As a part of an audio system upgrade I have installed a Kicker CXA6605 600 watt 5 channel amplifier. I do not run the audio system extremely loud, just enough to get benefit from the sub-woofer and new speakers.

Should I consider upgrading my alternator or is the draw by this amplifier not enough to be concerned about? I don't want to start seeing batteries slowly degrade.

Thanks for any insight!

The factory alternator will be good to run your set up. I have a system in my ram. I sm running more power than you. I have 2 amplifiers a 600 watt 4 channel and 1100 watt monoblock. If i start noticing anything. I will upgrade my battery. But you should be okay with factory.

Or check into a capacitor set up.

When I was into car audio, I had three of these in my 97 GMC:

I had multiple Amps and was pushing a ridiculous amount of power....

As others have mentioned, you don't need a larger alternator. You would be better served by adding a second battery and/or a capacitor set up mentioned above.
