I have the Alpine system and I've replaced my stock sub with the 8" Pioneer TS-SW2002D2. While it does sound better than the stock sub, I want to push it a bit harder, so I am looking for a small amp to power it.

I plan on just using the stock sub enclosure, so I don't need tons of power.

I've read that I will need a LOC, but I've seen some amps have speaker level inputs, so I wouldn't need a LOC for that, right?

Went 4 pages deep and only found 1 post that pertained to what I want. He's not selling his items separately. Still would like recommendations for amps that people have used to power their Pioneer subs.

I know that speaker will never in its life live at 600 watts you need something in the mid 200-300 range. The best bang for the buck (Im super biased as Ive never had this brand fail me) is the Prime 750 amp. Thats a dual 2 ohm sub, and no the amp will not do a 1 ohm load. But wired at 4ohm you will have somewhere in the 300-350 rms range. Thats the perfect range for that speaker, that amp will never get hot, and has a remote bass control. The amp is tiny and new its $120 bucks.

I had that exact amp on 2 infinity reference svc 4 ohms wired to 2 ohm and at full tilt all day it hammered along happily and never got more than warm to the touch. It did eat up some kenwoods as I got a little to trigger happy with the gains and cooked them.

My truck now has a Prime 1200.1 only because now Im running 2 Type S 12's as soon as those go up in flames it will be back to some P3's for some real flexing fun.

I am considering doing the same thing (to power my Pioneer)... wondering, what's the best (i.e. easiest) way to get power to the amp for the sub without tearing the whole interior apart to run wires???

You're going to have to at least pull up the kick panel and door sills. There's no "easy" way to fish it through without pulling some trim.

Also, if you even think you might add another amp in the future, go with a larger wire (and appropriate fuse size at the battery) so that you’ll never have to re-run the power wire.

If you’re not really comfortable with electrical stuff (I know I’m not) it might be worth paying a shop to do it right. You can easily do any additional stuff in the back of the cab but the main power wire is important and has the highest potential to get shorted out (rubbing on a screw, water, etc.) so might as well be 100% sure about it.

You may not NEED it, but having the Accubass and sub level control will make your life better.

Accu bass is worth the price of admission if just using a sub amp

You will be fine without it.

You can be fine without it. The amp has speaker level sensing for remote turn on, so you won't need to run a switched power as well. But, if you planned on using an amp that does not have that feature you would either need to run that switched remote power, or use the remote output of the LC2i. Plus, like mentioned, the Accubass is a hella nice feature.

Is the accu bass supposed to help with the roll off from the stock tuning? Wouldn't a bass level knob work as well?

It is a level adjustment. Instead of controlling the gain on the amp you're controlling the line out level. Alpine sells a similar device to work with the MRV amps called the RUX KNOB. That control the gain of the amp. 6 of one, half a dozen of the other.

Both are equally priced add-ons.

Thanks for the info. Everybody has been a great help.

I think I'll end up going with this:

https://www.amazon.com/Rockford-Fosgate-R500X1D-1-Channel-Amplifier/dp/B00BF6HYDE

It's a bit cheaper than the Alpine and already comes with the control knob ($35 extra for the Alpine knob).

IMO don’t waste money on the LC2... either go without it or get the AP4
