Well that's interesting, I've installed tons of factory remote starts and never had to go near the B pillar.

Must have had an inexperienced guy doing it.

Yeah I'm with you there. Really odd. I'll see if I can link the download to the install pdf here. It just shows removing them but for no reason as far as I can tell.

After reading the instructions again I really don't know why they touched the b pillar. It's on page 12 of the install manual. It says a pillar and b pillar panels must be removed. But it really doesn't say why. No wires need to be ran through there. And my truck was pre-wired for it. As in the hood latch was plug and play.

It says the A pillar too? That's retarded lol. The only pillar that needs to be touched is the C pillar. That really makes me think someone was just blindly following instructions. That's why I usually figure things out on my own, it's usually easier and faster that way.

I'm not surprised it says that in the instructions. I've been a Chrysler tech for 10 years now and see weird service procedures all the time. Some of them just make you shake your head. Most of them are pretty good though.

I just had a quick glance at that. Removing the b pillar is only for the regular cab trucks.

Yeah you're right. Says for standard cab remove it then goes to crew and quad cab remove rear door sil panels. Doesn't mention 4 doors.

Maybe they didn't catch that.

I can tell you with 100% certainty that it wasn't like that when I bought it in. I'm extremely detail oriented and looked over every inch of the truck when I bought it. But I did miss it reading that pdf like 10 times so take that as you will lol.

Never mind I just looked again, says it again for crew cabs. That's messed.

After you said that I re-read it. Why do they remove it? I swear I've read through this tons of times. I don't know why they touched it if they did.

It's probably just a typo is my best guess. There is nothing that gets run from the front to the back. Like I said before, someone was just probably following the instructions step by step without using their head and thinking about what they're doing.

Hell, I did that more than once. Must be an honest mistake then. The regular cab has the RF module in the b pillar. So maybe they just read straight through it as I did. And honestly, I did it more than once.

It will be made right at the end of the day thankfully. I got a text message that said they had the parts in today. The only thing that bugs me is that they won't let me swap the parts myself. I understand why. But I am extremely experienced when it comes to vehicle work. It would take me less than a few minutes rather than a day or more for them to do it.

Thanks so much for the help and getting my brain working. I'll report back when I have the part swapped out. All should be smooth sailing after this.

I messaged ramcares about these issues before the service was done. I'm surprised they didn't get back to me after the preliminary message.

If you have to remove the door sill panel by the "rules" to remove the sill you have to remove the kick panel and b pillar trim... to remove the kick panel the a pillar panel needs to be removed... by the rules... but since the plastic is flexible you can simply bend it a little bit and the sill panel simply slides under the b pillar and kick panel before locking down or being removed. I'm guessing the instructions are written to account for this.

The A-pillar trim isn't even remotely attached to the kick panels. It's on top of the dash and the kick panels are on the bottom. You can't remove the kick panel,B pillar, C pillar lower trim pieces with the sill plates/kick panel in place. They go over top of those trim pieces. The kick panel and sill plate are actually one piece, as is the lower C pillar and rear sill plate. It's this way in the service procedure. Someone just did a ****** job writing those instructions.

I haven't looked that close to my truck to see what parts link to what parts, I was using the discription I gave simply as an example as to why the instructions could be written how they are.

In my experience as a tech I have found many unnecessary instructions. Like disconnecting the battery when replacing a tail light bulb, or when changing the air filter. Things like that are not required but the instructions say to do it anyway.

So I called the dealership this afternoon to check on the status of my trim panel. After leaving two messages I was finally able to get in touch with my service adviser...

They didn't even order the part yet! Come on guys, this is insane. I told him I'm going to be calling every day until it gets here.

i had an issue when i bought my truck for a scratch on the center seat rear vent panel. Even got it in writing to have it replaced cause it was damaged before i even left the lot. Needless to say I called for two weeks straight and got a run around. They never replaced it. Browns on long island is never getting my business again. Horrible. good luck man hope it works out for you. And this was all over a $20 trim part that was scratch much like yours.

Wanted to update everyone. Everything was resolved today. I must admit, I kind of snapped at my service adviser yesterday on the phone. He told me the part was in Monday and I could come in Thursday and have it installed. I told him I'll be there noon today and I will be installing it myself, and to make sure they have a manager available if he has a problem with that. I also told him I'll give them all zeros on the review if they don't make this right.

Fast forward to noon, I showed up and I apologized for losing my temper on the phone. He said he totally understood, gave me the new part in the package still and said that the manager said I could just have it.

So I ended up giving them a good review. I probably shouldn't have but it wasn't my service advisers fault the truck was damaged. So I didn't want him to take the heat for a techs mistake. They did throw my parts away but, at the end of the day after calming down the parts were useless. Plus, I still feel bad for snapping at him on the phone lol.

I got a Hyundai Accent? Damn it! That car was so awful! Never knew anyone made a car so terrible. That was so funny driving around in it though. No tint... I felt like I was in a fish bowl and everyone was laughing at a grown man driving that LOL.

Could be worse... my wife's car is a Kia Soul, with an "Army Veteran" license plate frame (I'm former USAF), and a bumper sticker that says "Well Behaved Women Rarely Make History."

It's not fun driving that thing...

Wow sucks to hear about these stories, but I have one I'm going through now.

Dropped my truck of for Service at ORANGEVILLE CHRYSLER In Orangeville, Ontario, Canada exactly one month ago for a routine oil change and some regular inspection and if possible install a Flowmaster muffler I just bought. When I go to pick up the truck one of the service guys tells me if anyone called me about my truck. I told them the only call I received was about installing my Flowmaster muffler which they didn't have time for, he then asks me if anybody called me after that and I said nope.

So service tells me to follow him outside to my truck and shows me a huge dent in my bumper, he tells me that the service Tech was driving it off the hoist and drove into another hoist and banged it up. But he said the service manager would take care off everything and get me a brand new bumper and fix everything for free.

Now after almost a month of waiting and getting hardly any replies to my e-mails or calls I'm STILL waiting too get my bumper fixed. The dealership told me it was back ordered then it's at the body-shop but not painted or they just don't reply. Which just sounds really fishy and got me thinking that maybe they weren't planning on telling me about my bumper in the first place and hope that I blame someone else. Why else wouldn't they call me about it? Also the guy who told me was just a young guy and the girl I normally deal with comes running out and looks like she gave the young guy a good chewing out.

Anyways it's August still waiting to get my bumper replaced and still can't get anyone to talk to me.
