There is a few owners on this forum but it's a lot of gassers (some of which are slightly biased to the Hemi).
I have a '15 Outdoorsman EcoD and love the truck.

For what is'w worth, my father in-law drives a 2015 EcoDiesel. At ~75,000 miles a rod in the engine blew. Luckily it was under warranty so he got a new engine. I never found out what the cause was.

I drove a 2014 EcoDiesel, and really liked the truck a lot. I did have a few emission issues at first, but got a little scared off with blown engine reports, so I only put 10,000 miles on it before trading back into a Cummins.
The economy was fabulous though! I had 3.55 gears and got 31 mpg hand calculated at 70 mph. Never got below 22 in town either.

Yes the fuel economy is insane for a 6000 pound truck.

31mpg highway never below 22 mpg in town.

Its insane.

Im thinking of getting one, but im not sure i read many horror mechanicals stories about it. I want something reliable.

Been looking at 2014 to 2016.

Did they change something on 2016? Maybe more reliable?

I’ve got a 2018 Eco Diesel and I love it. My fiancée’s grandfather has a 2014 and he loves it as well, runs great and not had any problems as far as I know.

Production was suspended for a year while the EPA was on their diesel witch Hunt, so if I remember correctly, there are no 2016's?

Some who have them love them. Look at routine maintenance costs and price of fuel and see if it works for you. If I am not mistaken tFCA at a certain point changed to a heavier weight oil. If I were looking at St light duty diesel, I would give the Nissan/cummins a close look.

The ram 1500 with ecodiesel is the Highest fuel economy half ton pick up available on the market today.

it got the highest fuel economy of every truck, EVEN the 2018 F-150 with the new powerstroke v6 3.0 liter with 10 Speed transmission did worse than the ram with the ecodiesel.

Theres no halt ton truck on the market with better fuel economy to this day than the ram ecodiesel.

There are 2016, 2017 and 2018 model year EcoDiesels on the road. The EPA has been on witch-hunt on all diesels from all manufacturers.

No issues so far, mines a weekend warrior with close to 30K.
Early on there was a fleet of 12 EcoDiesels that were used as escort vehicles for oversized haul semi trucks. They all went over 100K without any issues. There is VernDiesel that put 387K on his first engine (headgasket blew, put a new engine in and still truck'n), he delivers Airstreams all over the country. A friend of Vern's retired, his EcoD was over 200K and there are quite a few more that are on an EcoDiesel forum that are also over the 100K mark.

I have an '18 ecodiesel laramie. I absolutely love the truck. I've only put about 2500 miles on it so far. I've had several CTD's over the years. Couldn't justify a new 2500 with the cummins 6.7 and the avg 14 mpg, so I went with the 1500 with the ED. So far so good. I got the 8yr 100K mile mopar warranty with 100$ deductible. I will do oil changes every 5K, I use an additive to increase lubricity, I'm averaging 22 mpg. Thats US gallons. Other than the BS they put in winter fuel around here that cuts down on mileage I'm happy. I get about the same mileage as my wife's subaru. There have been issues with spun bearings and resulting blown engines. Its a crap shoot as to if that will befall me, but I have the warranty. If it gets too bad Ill get it fixed and trade it in so I'm not too worried. :Caffeine:

I bought a 2016 Limited Ecodiesel because I wanted the mileage and longevity of a diesel but didn't need a 3/4 ton or 1 ton. I read the horror stories online but it didn't deter me. Found this one used with 35,000mi. The powertrain warranty is 5yr/100k mi but bumper to bumper is 3yr/36k. So I bought an extended service plan to extend it to match the powertrain. I average 21-23mpg combined hwy and street. You really have to change your driving habits to get the max fuel economy. But it's fun to me to get it over 23.

It must've been successful for Ram because now Ford and GM are rolling out half ton diesels. And Ram is reworking theirs for the 2019 to better compete. So far I love the truck and can't wait to see how all 3 auto makers do with them now that there's competition.

The 17 and 18 all have issue where motors are blowing up as well. I have 1, love the mileage but its kinda ******** FCA does not acknowledge they have put a product that exceeded the industry avg of .2% motor failure by like 10x, around 2%.

There are email transcripts that validate the %.

I believe there is a forum member that delivers RV trailers
With an ecodiesel. I think he had to replace the engine at 400000 miles. Hopefully he'll pop in and confirm. Pretty sure he is happy with his truck.
