For $100, I'm tempted to get it, even if it's only mostly reliable. I have a utility wagon that I know is way below what I can tow, but I'd still like to know how much it weighs. Something like this would be very convenient.

I bought one about a month ago now. I tow two different trailers, and am constantly changing loads. It measures two different ways: using the change in angle of your truck as you load it for payload, pin weight, or hitch weight...And by calculating the overall weight of everything you’re pulling by measuring the the amount of slip in the torque converter.

If your truck is not stock, neither measurement will be accurate until you do some homework and imputing some values for it to calculate.
If your truck IS stock, the thing works pretty well, pretty quick.

My truck is a stock 2015 2500 Mega Limited 6.4 Hemi with 3.73’s

For the payload measurement, it asks you to park on a level surface and steady the truck. Then it takes a measurement. Then it asks you to sit or stand on the tailgate and I put your weight. That’s it, it’s calibrated for payload. You load it up and the gauge tells you how much weight is in it. This is very accurate if your truck is level. At Home Depot I loaded ten 80 pound bags of concrete in the back and it said the weight was 795lbs. This is not accurate if the truck is at an angle, even if you calibrate it on an angle. It’s off hundreds of pounds this way.

For the combined weight measurement, you tell the app you want to start that measurement and it asks you to stop the truck. You then must accelerate in a straight line with your foot half way down on the pedal through 15mph...The app gives an instant read out. I usually do this twice to be sure. I had a load that I took to the dump. The app said the load weighed 9000lbs on the nose. The scale at the dump said I weighed 9280lbs. I don’t know how accurate that scale at the dump is, but that’s pretty close for my needs. The empty truck is supposed to weigh 7600 lbs. I have myself (obviously) and about 200lbs of stuff that I keep in the truck. I figure I have around 8050 total at the high end. The app says I have just below 8000. Again, pretty accurate for my needs.

Other than that, plugging it in and connecting it to my phone, it took about 2 minutes to find my VIN info and get the info on the truck. And, when I open the app with the truck running, Bluetooth audio stops until I close the app. I stream music from my phone almost exclusively, so others might not notice.

If you tow a lot and change your weights frequently, this is a must have for $100. If you tow a boat twice per year, you’d be better off taking it to the scale once and being done with it.
