Everytime im waiting inside my truck, (the key isnt in ignition) its not keyless. I Always hear a scratch sound that doesnt stop, it gets low then louder. Sounds like its behind the touchscreen. Anyone else hear this?will it ever go away? 15' ram sport qc.

Is this after you've turned off the truck? If so, it's normal. The noises you're hearing is the HVAC actuators going through a calibration procedure.

The nav unit also seems to make noise internally when the truck is off

I have heard weird noises behind the dash as well when sitting in my truck with it turned off. I was always curious where the heck those noises were coming from.

HVAC actuators you say? Like the blend doors?

Interesting. I was just eating lunch in my truck yesterday and noticed this odd sound as well coming from behind my 8.4. I have heard it before but never noticed it as much as I did yesterday being in there for about a half hour with everything off.

It's the radio. I wouldn't call it normal but it is experienced by many (myself included). It is specific to the 8.4 radios (with or without NAV) and unplugging the radio stops the noise. In addition, it does not appear to occur when the key is in the ignition turned to ACC or RUN.

I get those noises too and HVAC noises. The 8.4 doesnt have much size to it. When i had my dash apart, it seemed only to be 1.5 or so inches thick.

My guess is if it's the 8.4, the noises you hear is the headunit plotting against you to freeze up, not connect to your Bluetooth or just malfunction in general.

Does this stuff cause any electrical drain on the battery? Ive let my truck sit for as much as 5 days and never had any hesitation at startup but it makes me wonder. Ive owned GM vehicles that will auto force off anything using electricty after something like 30 mins or so, cant remember exact time. Im guessing these trucks dont do that.

I don't know if the drain is significant, but it does definitely use the battery even when the truck is not on. Ram is not the only one, I think all vehicles now do something when you're not looking. Took me a few days to figure out why my wife's Tacoma kept making noises at night in the garage. It was pressure testing the fuel system for leaks. Add to that, most cars are pretty sensitive to a minimally weak battery these days even if the battery may only be 2-3 years old
