just bought an 2013 1500 quad cab and while driving home noticed that the temp gauge goes over to the 3/4 mark and then comes back down to the right of center took to the dealer and they said the fan was bad so replaced with new one temp still goes up the same and said it was normal the fan comes on at 230 and goes off at 213 just wondering if others do this or just mine because it has other issues i need to address. 230 degress seems to high but may be normal for these trucks thanks for your time and input.

Seems warm to me.

I saw a video of someone with a 2013 V6 doing a 0-60 type run, and the needle got up to roughly the 3/4 mark.

Does it only get warm when you're romping on it, or just driving normal?

Could it be the louvers are closed behind the grill until a certain temp and then open causing the noticeable drop?

usally goes up on normal acceleration and at idle driving at set speed does around 219-222 degress and yes i do think its the shutters at times but you would think they would open alittle sooner. thanks for the feed back

Yup same here, took mine to the dealer, they are in the process of flushing it out completely and replacing the thermostat. temp going up like that on the 3.6 is not normal. my dads journey with 3.6 never touches half way always a hair below.

If you are not in snow country you don't need anti freeze as much. usually your anti freeze versus distilled water is 50/50. You can run the mix down to 20% anti freeze 80% DW and run 8 ounces of RMI 25, and your truck will run considerably cooler. I wouldn't trust anyone to do this except myself, that is the only way you would know it is distilled water going in the radiator. Hose water is no good for the radiator, if you want to avoid rust. You could empty a gallon or two of your current anti freeze and replace it with distilled water, that also will make a difference.

The temp on my ‘17 stays between 190-200*F. At least that is what the gauge says.

Just towed 6600# with my Pentastar this weekend. 75 degrees +/- outside up and over rolling hills for 600 miles and temp gauge never went over 212. FWIW

It seems like your fan is only going on for overheat. Could be a bad low speed relay or bad temp sensor on the fan shroud. Computer controls fan speed so there’s most likely something the computer isn’t seeing that it needs or a part has failed

The 3.6 can be a PITA to get all the air out of the system.

I would also take a close look at your rad since your truck is a 2013 with likely a lot of miles.
