The dealer that I visited claimed he had a couple come through. When will we see these?

Wonder what real world fuel mileage difference will be. Guess perhaps 3 mpg???

Almost waited on the diesel 1500 but then I remembered I don't like Diesel engines.

I was referring to the pentastar. It will be a while before we see the diesel - which I am scared of - if it had of been the cummins I would have waited for it.

There's a few members with them here already

I wouldn't worry about the new diesel either, its not a brand new engine
They've been putting then in different vehicles overseas for some time now

...

Can you point me to threads where fuel mileage or performance of pentastar 4x4 2013 ram 8 speed trans has been discussed? I haven't seen those in my searches.

I attempted to test drive one but my buddy grabbed keys to a hemi instead with the 8 speed so still have not drove one.

The dealer I bought my truck from had several of the V6 trucks in stock. We're more expensive and almost no incentives...

thats very odd, everybody I know who has a ecoboost loves it. We have 12 of them in our fleet at work and they are pretty sweet trucks. I got the first ram so far with 2000kms on it its way harder on fuel then my 09 f150 with a 5.4l. We wanted to try the v6 ram with the 8 speed but the dealer said it wont be available for a while so I got the hemi... its a nice truck, comfy. But the eco boost is a nice engine!

Just got a 2013 Ram 1500 v6 8 speed. 4x4 reg cab. Got it for 26K which was 4 k below MSRP. only have 110 miles but already averaging 21-22 mpg with easy mixed driving. Hiway only is gets 23 mpg going 65-70 mph. It is faster and shifts much better than my 1998 Ram with the 5.9l Magnum engine with 3.55 gears. The new 8 speed is GREAT and the v6 is very peppy and I haven't even driven it aggressively yet as I am breaking it in slowly.

So far it has exceeded my expectations, but it is brand new with only 110 miles on it.

Just bought a V6/8 speed 1500 quad cab 4x4 SLT last month. Truck has about 1,150 miles on it I am averaging 22 mpg with it in stock form. This has been verified by hand when I fill up and agrees to the truck's dash-computer. I drive with a light foot, cruise set at 5 miles over the speed limit, and a mix of 50% highway and 25% back country roads, and 25% city driving.

Love it!

Ford has two V6 motors, one is naturally aspirated and is not the ecoboost. I owned one before I bought my Ram. An F-150 XLT extended cab, two wheel drive, with V6 and 6 speed auto, I averaged 20 mpg with a light foot.

Loved the truck but stuff kept breaking on it, so I traded it in on the Ram once the warranty was about to expire.

The other V6 is the turbo'd ecoboost. It has a TON of power and is very peppy. I test drove one and it would scoot. Buddy actually owns one and says it will also average 20 mpg if you stay out of the gas pedal, but the problem is: it has so much torque and is so much fun to drive that he is always getting into the pedal, and averages about 15 mpg. Weather you blame the truck or not for this issue is another discussion.

People who can't stay out of the boost complain about the EB engine. If you keep it at a speed or throttle position where the turbos aren't spooling, it actually does pretty well.

People need to remember that EPA ratings are done at like 60MPH or something. At 70+ the truck which is as aerodynamic as a parachute, needs some boost to keep it moving.
