Before I forget again, I should mention that, unless you have power tools over course which the one's we had sucked and were of no use, dikes make cutting all the plastic needed in the front doors a breeze. What took my buddy what seems like 30 minutes on the driver side door took me like 10 after I thought of using dikes a couple minutes into trimming.

I got mine installed tonight. No cutting though. No drilling either. I got the 1/2 spacers and trimmed them. Screwed the speakers in. Easy.

What's jacked - I have no sound out of the front doors. Not even with the OEMs. Eh, they will be running off of the amp soon so whatever! :D

Alright, since I am taking this week off from work, I decided it was about time to change the spacers out on my speakers and see if that would stop them from rubbing on the door panel. Unfortunately, they still rub...but not near as bad however and the door panel was a lot easier to slip on this time around versus when I had the 1/2 spacers on them.

First I went to wal mart and bought my first dremel! yay....then I went to home depot and bought a new set of 1/2" spacers since I can't find 1/3" spacers anywhere. Then when I got home I measured, marked, and cut all 8 spacers down to approx 1/3" and then I swapped them out. I didn't take as many pictures as I intended to because once I got working on the doors I got into it. I was pretty bored today so once I started my brain is gone.

I did do a check also after I was finished reinstalling the speakers to make sure the window clears when lowering them and they do so all good. Still some minor rubbing on the speaker grill but not as bad and I'm no longer worried about it really so yea...this is how I spent part of my day...

Now here's some pictures

These are the spacers I used, they fit the screws that kicker supplies perfectly.

This is after the 1/3" spacers are installed, I meant to take a picture with the 1/2" spacers installed to show the difference but I didn't remember until I was well into putting everything back together

Now also as a treat, here is a picture what the plastic that I need to remove to make the kicker ks693's fit in the front doors. My friend actually cut this side, I did the passenger side with a pair of dikes and it looks a little cleaner, lol.

Wouldnt have anything to do with you being crew vs quad cab would it? Figure the doors are probably the same specs.

I see a problem with this picture. You do not have the speaker sealed to the door so your bass response is going to be weak. Usually when large amount of air leaks by the speaker it kills bass. If the speaker was sealed to the door the bass would sound alot better.

Yep, that's a known issue that I haven't been able to fix yet. Looked all over for ring spacers and what not but I cannot find anything a 1/3" thick. The closest are all either 1/4" or 1/2". I'm probably just going to place an order for dynomat and make my own ring.

Let me know how those work out for ya. Not sure when I'm going to order the dynomat as i need to slow down a bit on buying stuff for the truck. Next on the list is the head unit and then if I stick to what I'm thinking, next big thing will be amp and subs but that's not until the end of the year.
