I dropped something whilst unloading my truck and it caused a smallish (3mm round) chip but the chip seems to have gone all the way through to bare metal as it's already rusted over.

Fix? Get a touch-up kit, sand down the rust that's formed, and I'll be good? Or get a pro to do it?

What I don't want to happen is to get any residual problems with that area.

Thanks.

Did it happen in the bed? I would just do it myself. If it’s not that bad you can just sand out all the rust by hand or machine (just be damn sure you got it all), feather down the edges of the paint. And then use some primer to fill it in and cover it up with some OEM touch up paint from Automotivetouchup or equivalent vendor. If it's in the bed I wouldnt worry about it being show room quality any way. Just to make sure the rust doesnt get worse.

This is why bed liners are a big help lol.

Dr. Colorchips. More expensive than the touch up paint tubes but is also easier and blends in much better. Used it on a few trailer back up mistakes I did.

I have a spray-in bedliner :p

It's where the tailgate meets the side panel near the top. It's barely visible with the tailgate up.
