Do you mean the blue tops? That's the only Optima I haven't used. I am on year #4 on the yellow top in my Yukon right now. Never an issue. Last one lasted 6 yrs. If I get that much out of this one, I'll buy another.

I went through 3 blue tops in one fishing season. They are just not for me.

group size is 94 r optma dose not make such nor has a battery that compares favorably to it anyone who says they are good to go dose not under stand the modern needs of a vehicle electrical system , you are not going to run away from the size unless you want issues big isses

94 r are in the range of 55 lbs and go for 160-220 you can buy more expensive but you really do not get much more 4 years is the best warranty you will find 3 is the average.

You're right on the size. Optima does not make a group H7/94r. I do not have an Optima in my Ram, but I do in another of my vehicles. Other companies do make similar AGM batteries that are group 94r and will directly fit in the Ram. Why is it that you think people "don't understand the modern needs of a vehicle electrical system"?

I'm not a battery expert, but I've had a lot of vehicles and replaced a lot of batteries over the years. If it has been in a vehicle I plan to keep, I always have gotten Optimas and have never had any issues with them. I'm not opposed to another brand, but AGM batteries are proven to be a better design overall than conventional lead/acid batteries. I do understand physical size typically leads to larger cells (not more) and thus, a higher amp/hr reserve capacity and possibly more CCA.

Is it the physical size, type of battery, or CCA, etc., that you say people don't understand? I'd like to know. Please explain.

Optima really seems to be hit or miss. I have never had one but my brother went through two of them in 3 years in his 67 Nova. It sits in a heated garage on a battery tender when not driven so they certainly should have lasted a lot longer than that.

They were both replaced for free, right? They have a 3 year non-prorated replacement.

Indeed they were but I am sure he would have preferred they actually worked when he wanted to drive the car.

A battery that randomly dies early isn't of much use to me even if it is replaced for free.

Very true. I'd be pissed if it happened to me and my brand loyalty would be out the door too.

I got 6 years from my factory batteries on a 2011 diesel. Around here Deka's are the best.

I have no particular feelings about battery brands. The old adage about "you get what you pay for" is probably true in general, so I suspect the more expensive models from any manufacturer are probably better. That being said, of the several premature failures I've had, one was the top of-the-line Interstate. I've owned a plethora of various makes of cars, (lots) of GM, Ford, Nissan, Toyota, and of course Mopars, and the only OEM batteries that have gone the distance have been Chrysler factory. Whether that means Mopar replacements are the same, I don't know.

Best regards,
Dusty

Advance auto has a beast at 850CC and then you can use in store pickup and $50 off coupon. It will still be like $150.

Given that most (not all) batteries are made by Johnson Controls, so Joe might say brand X is best but Ralph says brand Y is, when all reality only thing that is different is the decal (and all things being equal like size & CCA)

The OEM battery in my ‘99 Ram lasted 10yrs, I only changed it because I was working PT at Autozone for the discount.
With that being said, every Optima we sold came back within a year or less.

If you want the absolute very best! Northstar AGM's are the top rated battery available in this country currently, no one else even gets close to them on specs. But they are not cheap!
