Not really sure how to word this but... I'm looking to buy two AGM batteries to install in parallel. there are multiple different companies, etc.. I am looking to see how to find batteries that fit.. for example; we have lug patterns / offsets etc for wheels.. is there a way to google say, series 8 batteries or Style Q batteries, etc.

hope you guys understand what I'm asking.

Thanks

Our trucks use a 94r or H7 series battery.

I recommend if using more than one, to put them in parallel.....or else get it on video when you put them in series. I wanna see what happens at 24v to all the sensitive electronics in our trucks. I am betting you will let all the smoke out.

Scott is right on both points (the battery type and the fact that if you wire them in series you will be putting 24 volts into your 12 volt system). You want to wire them in parallel. Where are you planning on putting the second battery? I've wanted to add one, but there's no place under the hood to put one.

I corrected the verbage... it is parallel. I have a vararam CAI so I removed the stock intake.. once that's gone it opens up the area which the 2500/3500 have their additional battery... you just get a right hand side battery tray from a 2500 and it bolts right on as if it were oem. just paid $80.50 for all the pieces shipped from ebay.

You might want to use a continuous duty solenoid to isolate the second battery when the vehicle is off. That way you can run the second battery down and still be able to start the truck.
You could also use a 3 position switch (ON-OFF-ON, wired to the solenoid) to select if you want the second battery on when the truck is running, not parallel to the main battery, or on all the time (use both batteries).

Probably not. One of the odd things about the 97R/H7 type batteries our trucks take is that the the pos and neg connections are reversed from the usual sides for automotive batteries. That's what the R in 97R stands for. If you want an AGM battery, I would recommend the one sold by Advance Auto Parts. They retail for $200, but you can easily find a 25% off coupon online, then do a "buy online/pickup in store" and get it for $150. The one I bought last year has done very well so far.
