I'd like to go with 275 65 r20s from the stock 275 60 r20s, but I really don't want to take the 3mpg hit that comes with the extra 20 pounds of tire on all four corners.

My last truck I ran BFG K02s and liked them a lot, but they really are more than I need. I'm primarily commuting 25 miles each way daily so I'd like to keep the gas guzzling to a minimum.

I'd like a bigger footprint and a more aggressive tread for running on sand, but I don't need the heavy 10 ply tires for that. I've looked around a lot, so maybe what I'm looking for doesn't exist, but is there a tire that will meet that need without hitting 65 pounds?

Going from your stock size of KO2’s to the size you want is an extra 3lbs per tire at 58.27lbs per tire. It only make sense that as the tire gets bigger it’s going to weigh more. You could do a 285/55/20 in the KO2’s. I weighs less than a lb more than the stock size. It will give you a wider tire for the sand, but it’s a tad shorter than the stock size.

Nitto offers a few plus sizes that are not 10 ply and thus not that much heavier.

Yeah, but I'm running stock size factory Goodyears, so I'd be going from about 45 pounds to about 65 pounds I think. The KO2s i had were on my previous truck.

Next Friday I'm installing Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT 305/55r20s. They are 62 lbs each. I'm excited yet a little nervous too. Hope I don't take too much much of a mileage hit.

I am running Nokian Rotiva AT+ in LT275/65-20, e-rated, lost about 1/2 MPG, 1" taller than stock.

I really like these tires. They throw very little gravel, are snowflake rated (proven multiple times this winter), quiet, have actual % wear marks built in....

Something I hadn't noticed you said earlier as well....Aggressive sand is generally not particularly helpful in sand. The more rubber (Lower void ratio) the better in general.

That said, the Nokians have a pretty average void ratio, and I am very happy with their performance overall in snow, dirt, gravel (similar characteristics to sand), pavement, etc.
