Hi, new to forum as I have a 22 PW on order and searching for best tire and wheel upgrade when it arrives. The 315/70r18 (36”x13”) Toyo seems to be perfect balance of a little larger than 35” but maybe fit better with less rub/trim needed then going 37s. Can you please let me know your wheel offset (I’m thinking of +18) and if you have any rubbing or had to trim?
Thanks in advance!

For 35" inch and up tire size on the 17" wheel there is little available (one choice) for tall and skinny on our Power Wagons. Going even narrower than the OEM 285 width with a 35 10.50R17 Kenda Klever R/T would be it.

Going to 35 12.50R17 tires next month on my Power Wagon. Tire size availability and its function are the reason I am changing sizes from running a 285 75R17, not for looks.
I ordered a set of those Klever RTs in 10.5 for my PW but they got me the 12.5s instead.
They claimed the 10.5s were a lower rated tire for Wranglers and such and that my 3/4 ton truck might be hard on them.
After they were mounted up I really have no complaints-they don't stick out past the fenders with my stock rims...

I have been reading nothing but rave reviews on the newer mickey thompson baja boss at. I also see they have this in pizza slicer size for a 17” wheel (255x85/17, which is basically 35x10.5). Its e rated and has the 3 peak snow rating….and its made in the USA.

I feel like this would be one hell of a tire for a stock power wagon.

I drummed up some pics of them on a jeep…

I thought about putting 35x 12.5's on my new 2020 PW, but ended up going with 285/75R17 Trail Grapplers. Pretty much an inch taller than stock size. I personally like the look. I see a lot of trucks in my area with big 35"+ tires that stick out past the fenders. They kinda look like giant skateboards and 90% of them look like they never have been off-road. I understand the younger guys liking the look, but I see a lot of guys my age(50) with them as well. Am I the only one that likes the tall skinnier tire look that don't stick out? I also like the fact the 11.5's seem to cut through water a little better for a less floaty feel. Is this just a fashion statement? Thoughts? FO? :)
I'm over 50 myself. I Run 35's on Stock PW Wheels, no Spacers. They don't stick out, or Rub. I don't like the Sticking out look either . Remember . These Trucks weigh in excess of 7,000#. They Aren't going to Hydroplane as easily as a 1/2 Ton. That said . If I ever have to mount Chains. I have enough Room with 35's . They seem to be the perfect Compromise for me. As somebody already said: Any Tire Choice is a Compromise. What you gain in one area. You will give up in another. There's no getting around Physics. The best tire for you. Is the Tire that best Serves your Purpose.

I have an October 2020 photo of my old 285 75R17 Cooper S/T Maxx on the PW spare steel wheel compared against my new 35 12.50R17 Toyo C/T's on the PW aluminum wheel. My rural high speed internet Satellite Dish due to the local ski area overwhelms the service and it becomes dismal. It fails to post photos during the day. I'll try tonight. There's no visual difference between the tires. Both fit tight in the spare location, but the 35's are slightly tighter. I'm over 50 by more than a decade and run 35's with the 3PMSF rating. I live above a noticeable Colorado State Highway sign where the snowplows run 24/7 in winter. They cease operating at 5 PM at the sign. Conditions turn to $#@$ quickly getting access to our home. I have tire chains for them to meet Colorado's tire chain Code 16 law which requires chains for all vehicles. If they didn't work well in all conditions with or without chains, I wouldn't be running them.
yup very little difference here are Toyo at2's in 285/75-17 and 35x12.5-17 I ran both flavors on my jeeps. they make a cooper at3 in 285/70-17 look small the 35 is in the middle.

Its crazy, that going by the numbers the 285 should be over an inch skinnier but close to the same height. Sure dosnt look that way…at least with toyo at2’s.

Tall and skinny work better for me in snowy conditions.

The national tire shortage which was announced on January 6th doesn't impact the US made tires. You need to look much higher and lower.

Well just because that tire shortage dosnt effect us (whatever it is, i havnt read it), dosnt mean it isnt hard getting certain tires. Just bought a set of rubber for the old ladies ride…hand to compromise and get something else because what we originally wanted was on national backorder.

The offset is whatever the method 305 HD is. I think it was 18. There is a small amount of rubbing, but nothing that bothers me lol.

I like the slight change I made on MY 19 Bighorn, stock tire size, just more aggressive and better made tire with better tread. This works for me. Others like the big look. Hey, do whatever you want to your ride. Yer truck, yer wallet. Now, there are PPL that need the bigger look for job, but that is a different topic. But when you start going real wide and bigger, you are possibly talking suspension changes, add ons, parts, etc etc. Make sure whomever dials in yer ride does it right. Drive it and enjoy it.

Try this for the Mickey Thompson 255 85R17 Baja Boss.

I emailed them but that looks like an internet type place that tells you they have things that they don't actually have, they even say they are just an internet retailer ie reseller. i never have had much luck going that route.
