Billet Tech Custom Color Lead Time

I think its time to make a formal post about this. Billet Technology has a 20 business day lead time on all custom colored parts. We have this disclaimer listed on every single BT part we sell, but we still get phone calls and emails daily with people asking why their order has not shipped yet when it was only placed 3 days prior. We do not mind giving updates as no car guy wants to wait on parts...I can completely understand that.

Where this is a problem is that we had a customer file a paypal dispute with us last night because they said their part had not shipped. We do not have time to go over disputes like this when we clearly have it stated in the item description that there will be a 20 business day lead time on all custom colors. We are not going to fight it or argue with any customer, instead we will simply issue a refund, and you will need to order it elsewhere and go right back down to the bottom of the list and wait another 20 business days.

I dont mean to be harsh or blunt about this, but we are a very well known business that is not in any way trying to scam people or take their money without shipping the part. When people try to dispute charges on something like this, it is an insult to us, and we are not going to allow that to happen. We will simply refund you so that you can purchase it elsewhere and sit on their 20 day waiting list.

You cant fix stupid.... You are a lot nicer about this than I would be if I was in your position. I would charge them a restocking fee as you had to order and pay for the custom colored part and now will have to stock it till someone purchases it.

I can confirm after my Moe's Performance spending this spring there would never ever ever be a case where they tried to screw you. I buy crap for several hobbies all over for years and Moe's has/was/is at the top for customer service and prompt shipping speeds on par with Amazon. Every part I ordered shipped same day besides ARH long tubes & Edge converter. Long tubes arrived to Texas day after I ordered and they packed them up and shipped them only a couple hours after tearing down their receiving freight shipment. Converter had a 5 day lead time and shipped in 4 with stall speeds being custom obviously.

All this to say as a very active consumer from Ebay to Amazon Prime to here and there Moe's is really good from shipping speeds to customer service. Never a reason to doubt, rather reasons to have confidence in them.

Seems very prompt to me . I think this customer has to understand the problem is with Billet Tech, not Moe's Performance

Surely this is a business decision Billet Tech made as they probably sell 10 to 20 of the standard units for every custom color they sell if it is even that frequent.

Businesses world wide including the one I am in shelf as little slow moving inventory as possible to make room for fast moving parts in this day and age. Keeps over head down and prices competitive.

20 days for a custom part is not altogether unreasonable, maybe it will match the red throttle body spacer ?

The reason for the 20 day lead time is because they dont anodize 1 part at a time. They wait until they have a certain number of orders for the same color, and then they drop them all off to be anodized at the same time. Sometimes you get lucky and this only takes a week, but other times it can take 4-5 weeks...it just depends on how many orders they get for that certain color. This is why they tell everyone to expect 20 business days just in case.

The guys that own Billet Tech parts will attest to the great quality of everything they ship out. I am willing to wait for quality myself. We do stock the standard satin finish as well though for the guys that dont care so much about color and just want the part as quick as possible.

I mean even at the very least its basic etiquette to contact the seller before opening a claim through paypal. Thats just BS..

I hope the next person they go through gives him the run around and dosent offer a refund..

Kyle, I actually have 1 polished can in stock right now with brass fittings and standard PCV lines. Polish is normally a 20 day lead time as well, but we ordered this for a customer, and he decided to just go with the satin instead of waiting. I had BT just ship it to us instead of cancelling the order on them, so its here and ready to ship if you want it.
